Or is it? =P

Stan could be trying to make us think it's just a joke with that :P at the end. He's clever like that.

That is a question I wanted to ask, how do moderators see a user's ban history?

Magic. Moderators can see a lot about a user, Gravisanimi. Or should I say Dr. Francisco Lorenzo de Villairosa at 53 Pembrook Crescent, Batavia, Illinois! :P

I'm wondering if that actually is Grav's real information and Stan just put him on blast, or if he is making a funny here.

I want to know this as well.

Mods can't see PMs made can they?

Gravys name's not Fransico. (I know his name, but I won't give it out cuz that'd be rude)
His name does kinda sound like the main character of a Goosebumps-esque Novella tho.

Dayum, beat me to it. That was exactly, letter to letter what I just wanted to post, but then I read the next page and you got it first.

Guess I was ... ninja'd *YEAAAAHHHHHH*

Okay, bad, overused memes aside, I would still very much like a clarification regarding the posting priviliges and the good standing.
Because if it is what I fear it is, am's as good as effectively perma-banned *shudders*. Well, at least I could make a club with RAS about it.

You're on Bioware's front lawn. You want to guess if they can?

Now, I believe they don't actually LOOK at them unless they have very valid cause. But you can be absolutely certain that they CAN.

Moderators can't, as far as I know. Admins can.

To be absolutely clear, I was joking. Posting a user's info would be a violation of the ToS and Site Rules, not to mention a ridiculous breach of trust between BioWare and its Moderators. I used Batavia Illinois because a buddy of mine worked at the particle accelerator there while getting his Ph.D.

Such an untrusting world. No wonder I want to take it over :bandit:

Maybe I should repost my question since it hasn't been answered yet.

Rules of Conduct wrote...

Only users with Origin accounts considered in "good standing" may post in the forums

Our forums are a place for responsible and respectful conversation about video games. Requiring user accounts to be good standing ensures they stay that way. An account is determined to be in good standing if it meets the following criteria:

- For users who have not already logged into a registered BioWare Edmonton/Montreal game using their Origin account, the account must be older than 30 days.
- For users who are already playing EA games and have logged in using this Origin account, the account must be registered with this site for at least 24 hours.

^ What does this even mean? I've read the "criteria" several times and still have no idea.

It means, as far as I can tell, new users need to wait 24 hours to post if they have played a game using Origin, or 30 days to post if they haven't.

Why is this? Does BioWare not like new gamers? Or is it to stop spammers from creating new accounts to spam?

Spam accounts were previously RIDICULOUSLY EASY to make and use. I'm all for this move. Heck, it's actually rather lax.

Most new gamers will have an Origin account, given EA's ruthless push towards the platform. I wouldn't blame them if they made you have a CD key to post at all.

Honestly, after the debacle with the ridiculous DAII flaming back in the day I was quite happy when they made the DAII section only accessible for posting by people who registered te game in here. There was only half of the rediculous flaming, mostly because some adamant idiots were creating smurf accounts just to bash the game. It was a great relief to be able to discuss the game without every second post being a hate tirade against the devs.

Imho, it should be mandatory. Have one general discussion section (NO SPOILERS!) where everyone can post, and for everything else they have to register their game (here or Origin, depending on how complete the account merging between this website and Origin is of course).

It really helps keeping the spoilers from people who not yet own the game and it helps keeping crying douchebags at a minimum exposure when you have most of the forum activity save from smurf accounts.

Thanks. My concern was that this would effect all accounts, and I wouldn't be able to post without an Origin account.

I'm curious though, why such a long wait for players who don't use Origin? If I was new to BSN and it wouldn't let me post for a month, I would have probably just given up thinking something was wrong when I made the account.

The point is that people who don't have the game have to wait a month to post in the forum regarding that game. New players who have it will only have to wait 24 hours.

It's not necessarily people who don't have the game though. The post specifies playing a game using Origin, and anyone who plays offline doesn't go through Origin at all.

To use an example, the only way I could register my copy of ME3 on BSN was to use a console with an internet connection at a public place, which means paying a fee, because the game needed to be connected to my BSN account online. It took so long to come up with that plan, I wasn't able to discuss ME3 in the spoiler forums for ~5 months after buying the game. And still that only worked because I got lucky (ran into a few problems that other people couldn't get past, but mine went through for some reason). It was much better when BSN just required a code from the game case for registration.

So, are the issues with the Dragon Age uploader intentional to stop custom avatars or just a technical issue?

I do understand if it is intentional, as custom avatars were against the rules originally.

My only regret about closing the romance section was not closing it sooner before it became the madhouse it ended up as.

Still, maybe BioWare will do something for DAI or the next Mass game?

I'm not an expert, but your BSN acccount is tied to Origin. Essentially, this IS your Origin account if you don't have any other contact with the EA systems. This can be seen when you login - the logo displayed is that of Origin, not Bioware.

So if you register a game here on the BSN, you have registered the game through Origin. You don't have to have the DRM client installed on your PC - you just have to have a game registered to your BSN account (which is an Origin account).

So you should be fine, no change should happen to your posting abilities.

Well, thats basically moved into the DA:I section, at least somewhat. Not quite to the level of crazy that there was before, but little pockets here and there.
