While I have mixed views on how they have portrayed Stannis in the show, I think he looks the part. Yet it is rather difficult to see any sort of family resemblance between the three Baratheon brothers.

As for character deformities and such, if it was as it is in the books, viewers would likely change the channel because they'd be disturbed.
A Song of Ice and Fire is dark, brutal, and honest about its dark brutality.

The show pretties up a lot of the characters. Tyrion in the books is nowhere near Peter Dinklage levels of handsome, especially after The Battle of Blackwater.
I think it weighs out eachother. I wouldn't like anyone other than Dinklage as Tyrion now. Perhaps they could have 'uglied' him up, but that might have affected his performance.

Definitely not post-Blackwater, but probably before it, Ser Jorah the Explorer is almost a bigger example than Tyrion. Book!Jorah is described as balding and hairy and a bit large.

Whereas TV!Jorah, is, well:
FemBaron's comments on Iain Glen are not SFW enough to be repeated here.
Ygritte gets the same deal. In the end, it's TV, it's HBO, unless the deformities are quite essential to the character and the character is meant to be morally ambiguous (i.e. Sandor; I'm trying to think of other "deformed" characters besides him and Tyrion but I'm drawing a blank), basically everybody is going to range from "pretty/ruggedly attractive" to "drop dead gorgeous".
Ironically enough, though, there are people who complain that Yara is not attractive enough compared to Asha's description.

Yeah, while the actor for Yara is OK, I was hoping that she'd be more beautiful. Sometimes the differences can be pretty jarring.

I wish they gave Emilia violet contact lenses, though. But I suppose then she would so hot it'd be considered some sort of optical sexual intercourse.

Fapity ****** ******!
Stannis is kind of how I imagined him. I think he would be larger (being robert's brother and all) but again, G.R.R Martin has no idea how nutrition works sometimes. To get these massive, muscley bodies you need to have a strict diet and excersise plan, eat ALOT and avoid alcohol.
A body, however, that's large and powerful is different, that is totally believable. Plus, the genetics in Westeros might differ from ours. Because each Lord seems to be rocking some good ol' African genes xD

The book descriptions sometimes makes it hard for the guys to look for the right actor. I'd rather have Iain Glen than some huge dude who couldn't act for ****. The GOT cast is very good, even the kids are great! And that's hard to do.

I hope she gets to her senses and realises that being a force for 'good' can ultimatley just lead to a ****ty situation, especially when the curren social climate isn't ready for it. She is forcing thousands of years of tradition down the drain when in reality it takes time for these things to happen. Yeah, slavery is horrible, we get it, the Masters are a bunch of utter c*nts, we know, but girl, you aint gonna convince them with threats.
Oh, and if it has to be done let it be Stannis atop a stone dragon, let him swing the sword! Plus, if Dany every makes it to Westeros whilst Stannis regains his strength, I'm betting he'll win that naval battle.

As of now, yes. But hopefully the lessons she has learnt in Essos will make her a good ruler. This is, what I feel is, the whole purpose of her being Queen there. It's for her to groom into leadership. She's played the Game of Thrones, and luckily, hasn't died, despite losing.

The reason Daenerys doesn't have the appropriate violet eyes she does in the books is because Emilia Clarke had problems with contacts, I believe.
That's a shame. Emilia Clarke must be one of the most beautiful women on the planet, if they gave her those eyes... god, the sexiness scale would be... be... (can't resist...)
OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kill me now...
Anyway, back to Stannis, before we're all branded as traitors of the realm and burned.

I think she'll end up there. This is George RR Martin we are talking about. No way both Jon Snow and Daenerys survive the series.
I'm guessing Dany's role in the story is going to be getting the dragons to her Targaryen kin (Jon) before meeting her demise. She'll probably crush the Mummer's Dragon (Aegon/ Young Griff) before that though.

Dany might be killed off or she might be kept alive just to please her fanbase. I'm hoping for the former.

It's Martin we're on about, Captain.
Or maybe he just hates the Starks
