I'm really torn here when trying to decide what to do about Connor, and I'm at an impasse.

The choice I felt was best was using Jowan's blood magic to take out the demon in the fade, but for some reason that makes me lose points with all my followers.

Killing the child myself (which I thought was not a good idea) actually gives me bonus approval points with 3 of my companions and NO negative approval points, which just seems really odd.

Now, the third choice of going to get the Circle involved... Anyone done this? Are there any negative repercussions in Redcliff for taking the time to go through the tower then coming back? Is it even "possible" to get the mage's help in the end? I don't want to go all the way through the mage tower and then have to reload my save from Redcliff because I don't like what happens.

This decision is difficult in and of itself, but the consequences seem kind of backwards to me. Sacrificing the mother for her son's sake with her permission gets me nothing but disapproval points, but knocking out the mother and killing the boy myself gets me approval? WHY IS THIS SO HARD?

Any advice would be appreciated. :D

Right after this is where I stopped last night and Alistair reamed my *** in the camp for my decision. I don't get why they don't want the mother to die if it saves the kid. Her actions basically caused half the village to die, the Arl to be poisoned (which must mean that Howe/Loghain knows about Connor's magic ability) and the knights sent on a wild goose chase. Not to mention she's mean to Alistair too. If anyone was going to die there, she seems to be a better choice than the child. Maybe I'm missing something about the Blood Magic part. The Blood Magic seems to be the biggest source of outrage.

At any rate, I think I may reload the game and try it another way. I don't really have any love with Isolde, however. I'm content with her being dead. Its pretty easy to make up the negative approval. I was able to win back Alistair to "caring" pretty easy.

It really depends on who you have in your party, but the objection here is not to the mother dying but to the use of blood magic. Not everyone thinks that using evil magic and a blood sacrifice (even an ostensibly willing one) is a good solution.

Killing the child myself (which I thought was not a good idea) actually gives me bonus approval points with 3 of my companions and NO negative approval points, which just seems really odd.

Again, it depends on who you have with you but some people are going to see this as the most expedient solution.

It is indeed possible, though part of that will depend on the choices you make at the Circle.

I get that Blood Magic is evil.. but many in the world think ANY magic is evil, so I'm still missing what all the outrage is about. The codex is small and the wiki doesn't have a whole lot on it either. Are they cursed or something in their death?

But even Morrigan disapproved, and she's the one who made a comment about it being a good, expedient decision because she volunteered before I even chose to do it. It is possible there were "net" disapproval points because she gets snippy about me sending her without asking for permission, but she's the only mage I got and the game doesn't let me ask her, so...

Again, it depends on who you have with you but some people are going to see this as the most expedient solution.

I got approval points from Sten and he wasn't in my party. Just like I get disapproval points from Alistair when I choose the Blood Mage despite him not being in my party. I know that the game lets the followers know of big decisions whether they're there or not, but it just makes me wonder as to how it depends on who is in my party if those who aren't there can still get points. Must be specific to Alistair and Sten there, perhaps?

It is indeed possible, though part of that will depend on the choices you make at the Circle.

I've played the beginning of the Tower, so I know what you mean. I'm just wondering if something bad will happen in Redcliff for the delay of me beating the whole tower line of quests. I just don't want to waste X amount of hours in the tower only to get back to Redcliff and have something I don't want happen, all but forcing me to reload my Redcliff save.

You don't get how someone might think that magic requiring a human sacrifice is a bad thing? Or how someone can't really be called "willing" when they're simply desperate? Or how putting that kind of power into the hands of someone who may have summoned the demon to begin with maybe isn't a good idea? Even ignoring the whole historical aspect of the objection to blood magic, if you don't have access to it, is it truly that difficult to understand?

What got to me is not that some people disapprove about using Blood Magic, but how NOBODY disapproved over me killing this kid in comparison.

It was a weighing the outcome type thing for me.  The mother was partially responsible, Jowan wanted to atone, the child didn't deserve death, so sacrificing the mother with her permission seems like the best thing to do.

People disapprove of that, I know. It's not like I approve of it myself, but it seems odd that people will like me less for making that decision, but nobody cares enough to say anything at all about me killing a child. (Except Leliana, but she can be persuaded into taking no approval loss, so no problem there).  Just feels weird and makes the decision much harder than I thought it was.

Right, I agree with Mystranna here - I don't see how the blood magic part is worse than killing the child outright. It's all in a grey area and to be honest I feel like Isolde is responsible for this whole mess anyways because she was trying to keep Connor's magic a secret. The child is totally innocent.

And some of the party members would agree. Like I said before, it really depends on who you have with you.

Are there any choices to be made in the fade that can alter the outcome, or has the damage already been done by that point?

I choose to kill Connor, although at the end, Isolde do the job for me.

Still -14 points to Alistair.(+4 from Sten, and Dog start to whine at me.)

Seems like even you let Isolde die, you still loose approval point from Alistair and others.

*Sigh* But I am lazy and didn't want to run to the Magi tower, finish the plot there and run back to finish Redcliff.

Besides, I want Isolde to take responsibility for her poor judgment.

Can someone tell me what im supposed to do after I kill the zombies during the raid. I've been waiting for a quest update but nothing is happening. I've also looked around the village for someone to talk to, but some of the npc died during the raid. What do I do?

a cutsence should load after the battle is done, if not, you might miss a few zombie up the hills, sometimes they stuck.

Blood magic tends to be power from a demon and demons only give such power to corrupt you and it WILL corrupt you. Its like say suicide bombing is the solution to a battle. Its an extreme tactic thats going to get a negative response.

As for the kid, DA is a cruel world. Suffer not the demon possessed to live, I imagine killing the possessed is seen as a mercy in DA. I imagine wynne would be upset about having a kid killed.

I decided to run to the Circle to get help from the mages for this, and let me tell you, it takes a VERY long time. So, be prepared to spend a couple hours running around in circles trying to figure out how to finish it. However, when you do get to the end of the circle it is relatively easy to get them to side with you. Just make sure you have a save before you go into the Harrowing Chamber, just in case you screw up like I did the first time. I haven't gotten back to Redcliffe yet, but I did get the mages to agree to help me and it looks like I won't kill anyone this way. (: I won't be able to finish this and tell you guys what happens though until tomorrow evening, when I can get back on.

Its odd, Mystranna Kelteel, that Morrigan disliked the option... In my game she gained 3 points for the choice, and Alister only lost 2. (They were both around Neutral though) Your class might affect the choice, as there is much 'Mage on Mage on Mage' interaction in that scene if your main character is a mage.

This is what I did and it's really not that hard if you're playing a character who is mostly good/positive.

Yeah, I got the Circle to help - it means everyone can live, if you do it, and you get the 'you're a good person, thank you for saving all of us' sort of conclusion. But it does mean you're going to end up doing the entire Circle Tower plot section, so be prepared.

I went with the circle, did the Circle quests and helped them and then returned to Redcliff. Saved the kid and told the Bann to off Jowan for being a paranoid idiot. Alistair thanked me for doing the extra work to save the kid, so did Leliana and Wynne, which is the party I am running with.

Some people only lost a few points? After the argument in the camp I lost 21 points with Alistair and eventually dropped to hostile with him.

Just go to the circle, you pickup a healer that route anyway. Which comes in very handy if your main isn't one.

If you are playing through as a "good" character then I suggest you do the circle option, also I was rushing through it thinking that pupil in redcliff will die. Well they didn't so just take your time to enjoy Magi tower plot line :)

I decided to kill the boy and once I got back to camp, Alistair was upset. So far now, giving him any gifts has no positive effect. Can't raise his approval rating since that decision. Oh well. ;-)
