this would be a cool way to import your saves but without the bugs and hassle for the developers.

Alright what if they released something that could link to you DAO and DA2 game (all DLCs included) and by compile your choices into a number that you could put in something at the keep and it would show you all the desicions you made and you could change them around if it is wrong or misread or something like that.

It would take the fun of knowing you played all them and it is using them but at the same time wouldn't have the problems that directly importing a save does and wouldn't require them to put the resources into having it register your save imports. This would also make people like me who want to import "our" saves into it instead of doing a checklist happy. This would also work for next gen systems since the code or number could transfer.

Does anyone else like this idea as an option instead of just the checklist

Isn't this what the Keep already does?

Obviously if they can find a simple/clean way of using save files to populate this info great, If not i'm perfectly happy with the notion of setting up my detailed world states manually myself as the potential of the keep is infinitely worth the loss of using save file for import.

This is not a bad idea if we are talking about a small game. If the game is small enough, you could just put your choices in a hashing function and store that number similar to how games used to handle saves back in the day. They would just give you a hashed password with your save state.

However, realize that we are dealing with choices that have spanned across 3 games. This would be a very expensive hash and I assume it would carry over additional information. What if the save state also wants to save the appearance and additional information that your character holds? Such as armor and the like.It is possible but it is not worth the trouble. A checklist would work better cause it can be easily injected into any dependancy

It's a checklist but my idea would be you putting something into your DAO or DA2 game and it would read all your choices and put out a number and you would type it in at the keep and it would show them all and if one was wrong you could change it.

In truth it just is something so people like me who did a ton of games for import possibilities to have the feel of it being our story instead of just a generic checklist.

It would be one for DAO and one for DA2 but I know what you mean.

Really your idea is very similar to the idea of importing your save to the keep, if they are able to do that function. So yes, it is a good idea, but it's one they've already had :P. Plus, they haven't said the keep will be a check list. There's a video about it on the forums some where. It's going to have a very complex logic algorithm in order to ask this or that. Ultimately it will boil down to a check list for some things (some are just yes or no) but visually it probably won't be a long list with boxes.
