After a number of years I have finally got a machine powerful enough to be able to play this again. I have installed NwN2 + both expansios + MoW. All bought and played years ago (although I have yet to get around to finishing MoW). Given that I have finished the majority of what I have installed I was wondering if anyone would care to suggest things that I could download. While obviously this includes modules, any suggestion would be welcome (as long as it is anatomically possible (
)). Please note that this does include anything that will help with module building.

Welcome. Some of my must-have mods are:
- Tchos' HD UI panels
- Xaltar's facelift pack
- Lite UI (I just use some parts from this one and others from some other mods, but I can't say which ones exactly).
- TonyK's Companion and Monster AI.
- Rod of Metaprepa.
- Warlock Buddy, if you play a warlock (download the latest version from Ladydesire's class pack's page).
Regarding modules, I usually suggest "Harp and Chrysantemum" and "Trinity" as two good and relatively short examples that most players should enjoy. If you prefer a specific module type in particular, I can recommend some. There are many good ones (but you should know that, coming from NWN1).

Well I suppose module recommendations depend on what type of module you like, but Harp and Chrysanthemum, Maimed Gods Saga, and Trinity all draw very high praise from the community. Also Wizard's Apprentice (especially 2) and Misery Stone.

What's wrong with half-elf males all looking like David Duchovny?

I forgot that one... Added it to my post. My only gripe with it is that it may lead to some oddities, like an NPC being described as having a beard and the facelift pack showing him as shaved... But I still consider it a must-have.Tchos wrote...

Thanks for the quick responses guys. My module preferences are quite simple really. My favorites all tend to not take themselves too seriously (my all time favorite nwn1 module being snickersnack by nereng). My one pet hate is my PC having evil henchies pushed onto him (yeah I always play male & e.g. the three original modules). I always play either CG or LG and there is no way (when I have a real choice) they would have anything to do with NE, LE or CE. I'm old school in that way.

Bah, it's always good guys. We need more blackguards...
Anyway, I know what *not* to recommend now: Path of Evil. The aforementioned modules should fit your preferences pretty well (and you could probably include The Wizard's Apprentice in the "doesn't take itself too seriously" category). "Tales from the Lake of Sorrows" is another great and long campaign for good guys. So is "Serene", and many others, but that should give you a start. Take a look at the AME too.

Yes, best to avoid my mods then. I've made an evil one and a probably neutral one.Tarot Redhand wrote...

Thanks for the recommendations so far guys. However I wasn't just thinking about playing. I was thinking about possibly making 1 (or if I go totally insane more (
)) module. So are there any things that you would consider essential on that front. If I remember correctly, interior areas use tilesets so are there any you would consider essential there? Also doesn't the toolset have the ability to use plug ins? Any outstanding ones? That sort of thing.
As an aside I am currently in westgate.

Kamal_'s tile project for one.

My placeables cornucopia.

There are a number of toolset plugins too, the only one I use is power bar

And I like to use Lance Botelles weather system outside:

For toolset plugins, I consider both the PowerBar suggested above, and The Grinning Fool's Usability Tools to both be indispensible.
Scriptwise, I also recommend EC's Super Include for easy access to custom functions in dozens of libraries. Also, I recommend browsing through all of the campaign folders for the official campaigns and copying the scripts and blueprints for your own use later -- especially the ga_ and gc_ scripts. Not all will be useful outside of their specific campaigns, but most will.

Also, Lilac Soul's script generator generated scripts normally work without issues in nwn2. I use it all the time.

Thanks guys. Alas I hadn't bargained on there being quite the size and number of windows updates for my new OS (win 7). As I am on a fixed usage limit it will not be before the end of the month before I can pursue this. Have bookmarked this page in readiness though.
Thanks again.

My apologies for hijacking your thread, TR, but incidentally I'm also making another attempt to finally get into NWN2, and I wondered:
1. Are there any good alternative (particularly female) voicesets for NWN2? I don't like that Obsidian just recycled the voices from NWN, especially considering how often I've heard them by now, and IMO they weren't that great in the first place (at least with the female voices, I get the impression that most if not all of them are by the same actress). I'd love to replace them with something fresh that doesn't remind me of NWN1. So are there any custom voicesets available? And if not, how hard would it be to convert voicesets from NWN1 or Baldur's Gate or .wav files?
2. How do I install Tchos' UI mod? It says the mod comes as a compressed folder that I should copy into the override folder, but does mean the .7z file? Does NWN2 recognize .7z files as compressed folders? In any case it doesn't seem to work for me, when I just moved this zipped file into the override folder, I didn't notice any UI changes in-game (and the .7z file doesn't contain any other folders, just loose files) ...

You should extract the 7z file contents of my UI mod into a folder within your override folder for best results. The folder can be named anything, but I would name it the same as the name of the 7z file itself (I usually choose the right-click option for 7z files that simply extracts the contents into an auto-created folder by the same name, so I didn't put an extra folder into the compressed archive).
There are several good voice sets that I use for characters, which I got from the Vault. Some of them use voices from other games, and others make the companion voice sets available for selecting in the character creation screen. Still others are custom-recorded original voice sets. I don't recall the names of them offhand, but a search for "voice sets" should find them.

Oh, okay. Thank you for the detailed instructions!
As for voice sets, is there any difference between how NWN and NWN2 handle them or are all voicesets compatible with both games? How do you install them in NWN2?

I don't have experience with how NWN1 handles them, but the ones I have installed are in a folder in my override folder, along with their necessary soundset.2da file. The one I'm using appears to be "33 Voicesets".

There are also a couple of alternate spellcasting voice sets that I know of:
- Alternate Female PC Spellcasting Voice: I tried this and didn't like it that much either, but at least it's a different voices, though the "enchanting words" are pretty much the same.
- MotB Revert Pack: Check the "Spell_Chant_Instructions.txt" file to learn how to activate the original casting voices (I think they're the same as in NWN1). This is what I'm using at the moment.
