DA:O's cover art was pretty crappy, sadly.

This too.  I miss those covers greatly.  

I think dragon age origins had it pretty well, non player characters and a nice background would be better over a single shot of a protag with some special glowly effect on them.

Actually if you wanted to prove your point you link to the sources linked in the article and not the article itself, which can be edited by anyone and is moderated by unqualified individuals whose only expertise is really just website management.

I think dragon age origins had it pretty well, non player characters and a nice background would be better over a single shot of a protag with some special glowly effect on them.

I just thought the color scheme on it was so utterly bland. Aside from a nice shot of hooded Morrigan, there was nothing that really stood out about it (imo).

Those Star Wars trilogy style covers always get me in the mood to spend money, for better or worse.

Again, irrelevant.  Sure a person could link to the sources instead of the wiki article, but if the article IS sourced, then it is not an invalid source itself, and that the site can be edited by anyone and how it is moderated is, again, irrelvant IF THE ARTICLE IS SOURCED.  It doesn't matter how the article is edited if the sources are there and valid.
