If the female Inquisitor gets a trailer, she'd better have a boss-ass weave.

You know it. Those ass shots would be 11/10 to, just to put that out there.

Why does having a nice weave equal ass shots, wut

It is required.  How else will she unleashe the twerk-storm?

MY INQUISTOR WILL HAVE A BOSS-ASS WEAVE BUT WILL NOT TWERK. that way she isn't a carbon copy of Janelle

I'd think the statistic that's more relevant in this case is how many people played maleShep over femShep in ME3 despite the femShep marketing and the fact that a lot of men might've played femShep as well. I'd wager it's more than the ratio of women playing maleShep.

That's because MaleShep had two+games worth of marketing not to mention he got the lion's share of trailers while Femshep only got one.

And the % of femshep players actually dropped by 2% after Mass Effect 3, imagine that.

If Femshep had over two games worth of exposure while MaleShep had next to little then the numbers will be reversed. That's why MaleShep is considered to be the canon shep because he had over two+ games to become a icon in most gamer's minds.

Can you prove that? No? Well then, stop making statements as if you were actually stating facts and stop spouting off your misogynistic dribble.
Female gamers are too dumb to know how to pick a characters gender? They gotta be told to play women? You are a pig.

Lmao! You are twisting my words in order to make me appear as a sexist.....I have tons of female family members and have never once disrespected a woman in my life.I'm likely to hold a door open for a lady than anything else.

But please continue with the twisting of words.<_<

Oh I see, the classic "I cant be rracist, I have a black friend" defense. Sorry, not buying it. And what im doing now isnt twisting your words, that would require much more effort. Dont flatter yourself sugar daddy.

You don't even know me so how can you call me sexist?<_<

Damn all this white knighting in this thread, it's quite hilarious.

Well I'm sorry to inform you white knights, the princess is in another castle, having sex with the dudebro player who only plays CoD and doesn't give a rats ass about gender-percentages in video-games.

Who's awesome? You're awesome.

wikipedia...

That site isn't even accepted by high school teacher.

Irrelevant.  There is absolutely no reason in the world to discount wikipedia articles that are properly cited.  THAT is why it is dismissed as a source by educators, but the criticism only applies to wikipedia articles that aren't actually sourced.

Actually if you wanted to prove your point you link to the sources linked in the article and not the article itself, which can be edited by anyone and is moderated by unqualified individuals whose only expertise is really just website management.

^

Again, irrelevant.  Sure a person could link to the sources instead of the wiki article, but if the article IS sourced, then it is not an invalid source itself, and that the site can be edited by anyone and how it is moderated is, again, irrelvant IF THE ARTICLE IS SOURCED.  It doesn't matter how the article is edited if the sources are there and valid.

again not depating the topic, I personally wish everyone male and female was less sexist on that, but what if the sources aren't good?

OMFG YOU SHOULD JUST BE HAPPY WITH THE CRUMBS WE ALREADY DEIGN TO GIVE YOU.  IT COULD BE WORSE!

Given the amount of resistance expressed in this thread, combined with the apparent belief that featuring a female inquisitor would damage their sales to male consumers, one can only surmise that featuring a female protagonist is somehow threatening to male consumers.

I just think you're ignoring the reality of the situation. I'm not telling Bioware "not" to market to female games. I'm pointing out that, at the end of the day, marketing is not designed to be all inclusive for every potential buyer in the world. While female gamers might be the most obvious target being about half the world's population, in the interest of getting more sales, should we be expecting a Black Shepard Trailer, an Atheist Shepard trailer, A Chinese Shepard trailer, etc?

Unless your answer to the above is yes (and that's an awfully unrealistic expectation), the only sensible conclusion possible is that producers are going to market according to the most viable population to create a sale. And not all groups are created equal in that regard.

Skyrim took a lot of risks with the TES formula. They simplified a lot of so-called "hardcore" features, which continued a trend from Oblivion and FO3.

Another example is how the FPS genre changed from 1990-2000, and then again from 2000-2006.

Alright. My first game was Oblivion so I can't really comment on whether that was really a risk or not.

The purpose of marketing is a controversial topic. Not everyone agrees that it is about putting information out there vs. actively making sales.

Alright. No resolution there, then.

Yes they are. And what you said doesn't even make any sense.

Male intimidation towards females doesn't make sense?

You bringing that up doesn't make sense. I don't see how that at all has anything to do with the percentage of women playing video-games. What are you trying to say? That the amount of female gamers is low because of male intimidation? That us evil men somehow stop women from playing games? lol

Of course, the whole route issue of this argument is based on gender issues.  How many times do we see females stay quiet because they don't want to be harrassed, it's a common issue.

No it isn't a common issue. Fat feminists who rage on the internet about non-issues and white-knight beta's who back those fatties up is a common issue.

Lol. Fat feminists and white knights who help the fatties are the only ones talking about that "non-issue". Sure. It is totally uncommon, despite all of the sexual harrassment given to females in the gaming industry. (Including cosplayers)

By claiming that as the reason for the lack of numbers you portray all women as fickle, shallow, and stupid. If someone said the reason men dont like something is that its because there wasnt a guy on the cover of a video game or a trailer, and only because of that, I would be pretty pissed.

You're being a part of the problem honestly.Instead of arguing back in forth with my...less than subtle friends, you should be talking about how you know what you say is true, or how we could change the gaming industry for the better. This bickering from all of you won't really prove anything either way.

Depends on whom you speak to. Although it really trended more towards an action game (compared to Morrowind), Oblivion still had a heavy stat emphasis. When I first heard Skyrim was killing the attribute system, I was calling for their blood. Now? I think I much prefer Skyrim's leveling system.

I thought Skyrim's leveling was like Oblivion?
