I've noticed that PUG'ing on PS3 for platinum games isn't easy these days and the pool of players period has really dried up.  Then there's the ones were I get grouped with missile glitchers.  Any other PS3 players noticed this recently?  I've only started playing platinum games on a regular basis this past week.

I think it has always been this way. :( On rare occasions I would actually bump into a 'serious' lobby where they would be using appropriate level characters/equipment/consumables...etc, but as I said that was rare.

The best approach it to play with 3 friends or at a minimum with 2 friends and a random. The latter gives you the power to kick randoms who are clearly way over their head and/or going to cheat. Don't be too picky with the random though, otherwise it's going to take a while before you start a match with a full lobby.

Alternatively search for giant reapers; that's more or less the default for those who want to play platinum and want the relative easy option.

Yep.  I wish I could pug plat more.  Lobbies take too long to fill up with non-missile glitchers.

I find Gold PUG lobbies on PS3 to be harder than Platinum PUG lobbies, although this is more because I am accustomed to dealing with enemy bosses rather than hordes of mooks as is the case in the early Gold waves.

Anyway, my experience has generally been the most enjoyable on Giant Platinum. Despite it being such a campy affair, it's better than dying trying to revive randoms across the map in Ghost, Hydra, or Vancouver.

Also, despite what other people say about maps like Glacier, London, Jade, and Condor, these are actually pretty good PUG maps. Dagger is also a good choice. You just need to do well enough and establish a presence that other players will follow your lead. Since many PUGs do not know enough about certain game mechanics or spawn logic, it's best to hold out a position. If you can, play a kit that is team-oriented and can provide decent to excellent crowd control or support. My suggestions are the Juggernaut (and actually shoot things please), any Volus, N7 Demolisher, Justicar, Talon Mercenary, any of the Tactical Scan Quarian Males with Area Scan, etc. There are more, but you get the gist.

Weird. The only problems I have are the occasional missile glitcher or noob trying to jump in before the match begins. I guess I'm lucky.

It seems like it has gotten worse lately. Both in number of lobbies and quality of players.
Even gold has been declining lately. Sad to see, but guess it had to start to die off eventually.

Plat PS3 is horrible, and not everyone knows that the game builds up on Memory Leak faster on Platinum. You haz to make sure everyone resets their PS3 before attempting Platinum.

Idk about you but I haven't noticed a thing. Gold games are very easy to get into and I have a few friends that love playing non-stop so I always have a game available.

I've got a maxed manifest and I don't particularly care for platinum
So I don't really ever pug platinum. I'll play with friends though.

Meh, I've always been on PS3 so I can't compare to other places, but it's no harder to find a decent plat pug game now than it has ever been. If I host and pick something like white/reapers I'd say it usually takes 5 mins to fill a lobby and we win 80-90% of them. However, quick matching into other people's plat games is usually a 50/50 success rate at best and often you have to sort through rio/giant or missile glitcher lobbies before finding a decent one.

Add me if you want someone to play some plat with on PS3, PSN is in my sig.

I don't know that this is a matter of anything being different, but I play on PS3, and PUG'ing platinum is a nightmare; about 4 out of 10 games have a glitcher, and of the rest, most of those are made up of players who really should be playing on silver or lower (as in, level 1 common weapons, no consumables, die 10 times per wave etc.). I guess people sign up for platinum just hoping to be carried, or are fine with wave 6 wipes.

I play exclusively platinum on PS3 and yes, it's often dreadful. Lots of missile glitchers and low levels with no consumables mixed in. Feel free to add. PSN ID Scabs_Wartley. No collectors please. I like blasting crab craniums, but don't like wave 10 system crashes.

Default search for a new account is Unknown/Collectors/Platinum, so that's probably part of it. And most newer people are unaware of the differences between difficulties.

Hmm, didn't know that, but I bet you're right; that probably accounts for quite a few of the folks who show up in plat pug's looking like they've played all of two games in their me3 mp career.

Yeah I've noticed, still good fun for once in a while to carry a plat team even better if there's no infiltrators or experienced players besides myself on the team. I rarely have trouble pugging plat.

I'm curious how the OP managed to max his manifest in 1200 games and 470 hrs O.o

I just don't pug plat. It's not worth the effort of waiting for somebody, let alone somebody who knows what he's doing. :P

You must be doing something wrong then.

99% of my current PS3 plat pugs are usually successful because well..... I carry them. When some other good players recognise my skills, they will add me and ask me to play with them.

But it depends on your timezone... Europe has better players than the west.

If you've managed to avoid missile glitchers for 99% of your plat PUG's, then it isn't a matter of what anyone is doing right or wrong, you just have gotten extremely, fantastically lucky.

He's had it maxed for at least 100 hours.  Best we can figure is that he spent a crapload of actual money in the store.
