Since this forum appears empty, I will add some strategy.

Use Master Lift.

;)

If Master Lift is not an option the next best strategy is Use Master Immunity.

Also...Master Singularity.

You know, separating the ME1 and ME2 strategy forums might have been a good idea if it were done 3-4 years ago. As it stands now, the historical threads on ME1 combat are, and forever will be, integrated into the ME2 Classes, Strategies and Builds forum. And this forum will therefore be useless.

Yeah, unless they planned for some mod with a bunch of time on their hands to individually run through all the threads and move them.

Also, Colossus armor is pretty good.

This kind of a goofy way to do it.

Medical exoskeletons are great.

More damage reduction is better than more shields

what if...I am an Engineer?

Play it long enough to use AI Hacking 75 times to unlock it as a bonus power. Then switch to a better class.

For  Engineer Class, I recommend bringing Wrex and Ash with you. Liara is also good because of singularity.

Use damage reduction and AI hacking a lot, and stick with being on a minor role in combat. If you really want to engage the enemy, play first as another class that has access to snipper specialization  and unlock it as a bonus power, so you can combat at distance.

Bring Liara and let her do it?

Some of the things you should NOT do as Engineer:

1-Bring Kaidan or Garrus to decrypt, since you should do it yourself. Liara is a better biotic than Kaidan. Garrus is good with the snipper, but so is Ash.

2-Do not bring Tali. Wrex and Ash armed with shotguns should fight husks. Singularity works too. Sure, having two persons turning two geths into allies does seem great, but in practical terms both you and Tali are very weak. It´s better to have Liara using singularity to control.

3-Do not, I repeat, do not try to be the hero jumping towards action. Leave Ash and Wrex doing the hard lifting. You should stay behind trying to disable the enemy, or scoring snipper hits if you have it as a bonus talent. You´ll die if you act like a berserker.

In order to play as an engineer, you should look at mass effect 1 not as an action game, but more like strategy. People who played 2 and 3 before 1 (yes, I´m looking at you, PS3 owners) will have a hard time with the system, that for all intents and purposes is a rpg in which you shoot. Handling the inventory will also feel overly-complicated.

I wouldn't make my Garrus vs Ash choice based on SR's.  Ash is a tank and Garrus is the second best tech-caster squad mate.  And on non-Geth missions you could argue he is a little better than Tali since he can use Adrenaline Burst to reset cooldowns on Sabotage, Damping and Overload instantly.

Basically Ash's main advantage over Garrus is her ability to tank, as that is her main role in the squad.  So she might make more sense in your team early game when the rest of the squad, with the exception of Wrex, are a bit more fragile.  By the mid to late game, the team will have adequate armor and mods that you may wish to transition from tank squadmates to more offensive ability.

Bring Kaidan and Liara along for twice the biotic fun? :)

capn233, your points are entirely valid. My suggestion was made taking into account that many people new to ME1 will have problems with the inventory. Weapons that need to be constantly replaced, up to 3 slots for items inside them, different armors with different mods, ommni tools, weapons... It can be a pain, specially if the person is accustomed with the more simplistic style of ME2. People who want to play retroactively will probably focus more on the natural abilities of the characters and development of powers, with a tendency to neglect the inventory and probably making some mistakes in the way items are handled.

Yeah it is sort of spread into other subforums most likely.

edit:  Yeah a lot of the ME1 stuff is stuck in the ME2 subforums, since it was one area on BSN.

Triple Master Barrier (Kaidan, Wrex and Vanguard Shep), and bulldoze your way around. That's the manly thing to do :D

Adept with an Assault rifle is a godly class. Use the armour glitch on the consoles or the command console on the PC to give yourself a suit of medium armour for extra protection (I don't like the look of the heavy armours in ME1).

For the love of all that is holy turn off squad power usage. They'll waste their abilities on nothing and leave you desperate when you actually need those abilities.

I like AR's on most of the "pistol only" classes as well.

I agree with squad power use, off is largely better, at least early to mid game.

I usually leave squad powers set to defensive, that way they'll do things like activate immunity, barrier and shield boost without that having to be micromanaged,  For their other powers, I want them to be ready when I need them, not on recharge because they used them at the wrong time.

As far as AR on pistol classes, I'd argue the other way, but it's more a matter of personal preference rather than anything more stat base, even though master marksman pistol will score a higher dps, everything else being equal. I'd rather take a take sniper or shotgun.

A massive understatement. Colossus outclasses almost everything else you can use in the game, and the only characters you might care to use other suits with are Garrus and Wrex.

Wrex in just about any sort of Geth Armory armor is nuts.

I always put any of the Shepards in Predator M X armour.

Simply because it looks better than the Colossus suits.
