While I am a big fan of singularity there are some situations where it's not an "I win" button, Luna and the rocket turrets in BDtS come to mind. Also four legger geth and thresher maws are immune. (Yes I tend to fight them on foot.)

I hope you just like to live dangerously. You should be aware that you do not need to fight them on foot to get the extra xp. You just need to deliver the final blow while on foot.

Bastion's Stasis
But you're right, it's not always an "I win" power, but it is most of the time ![]()
Though I tend to just shoot those enemies with the Mako until there's a sliver of life left and then exit the Mako to finish them off for extra xp.

Singularity is so broken it makes things unfair.
Yeah and it is so broken that sometimes you have to reload a previous save or enable console commands to pass some checkpoints. ![]()

You've never had boxes and crates lifted by singularity fall down in your path and block your way? Noveria during the Benezia fight is the worst.

Yeah that happens. The other thing is that enemies can sometimes get floated to inaccessible parts of the map, through the floor or walls. Sometimes you can use a singularity to pull them back out.
On some of the side missions you can exit the building and go back in and they might reappear in a normal part of the map. On main missions you are more likely to have to reload or use console to disable clipping. Not a huge deal, but it does happen. The two rachni right after you first meet the guards at Peak 15 do this to me the most.

The second I got Colossus armor + damage reduction, I could pretty much run around blind even on Insanity difficulties and still clean house.
In my opinion the equipment & upgrades make the characters far too overpowered, especially in ME1. I don't know if this applies to ME3 since I have yet to play that game, and am nearing the end of ME2 (doing my first run from starting as level 5 on insanity difficulty).
I've found that starting a new game at level 1 on insanity made the gameplay much more challenging; doing so in ME2 turned the Collector Ship mission into a nightmare, and really forced me to develop cohesive battle tactics.
I nearly always had Liara in my party. Warp/singularity is just too awesome. If I was soldier in ME1, then I also typically brought Garrus or Wrex, depending on whether I wanted a little extra tech or biotic. When I've played as biotic, then I bring Ashley & Garrus. Just starting engineer in ME1, and already bored immensely. Going to rush to finish the engineer achievements and then move on.

Please, don´t remind me.
Not only Singularity has issues, but Throw too. During the husk reveal scene on Eden Prime, if you attack the enemies with it and they do not die from the impact, one or more can go to an inaccessible area and remain there.
As for Benezia boss battle, I suspect that even to breath can cause bugs during the segment. I´m surprised that Bioware did not decide to replace the scene with a very tough battle on a single floor, with a lesser propensity to have bugs.
My most traumatic Singularity moment has to be the fight against the 3 krogans on Feros, in the corridor where the scientist´s data is waiting to be retrieved. It´s safer to use powers like neural shock or stasis. Things became messy when I had a singularity cast a tornado in the corridor, and my character became trapped. To make matters worse, my most recent save file was soon after leaving the mako (prior to meeting Julianna) .
I started playing during the Atari 2600 days. I lived through the NES generation, with tough to beat, unforgiving games. While I was never opposed to save files and checkpoints, I used to look at constant savestates with disdain as if it was impossible to play seriously while resorting to them. But after experiencing all sorts of glitches and bugs I was forced to recognize that being able to constantly save is not merely a matter of caution but also of necessity.

Just use a singularity again to make them float again... ![]()

Lift also works to get them out of your way. Only Shepard needs to get through after all, the other two will eventually teleport to him/her.
