Ok decided to make this topic for something I really want to say and I can't find a topic for it, well a live one anyway. Well if there is a part that makes you choose either Legion or Tali, I gotta say while I absolutely love Tali I'd choose Legion. And before the Tali lovers say anything, here's my reason, it's nothing to do with how cool he may or may not be, it's because you gotta think of the further outcomes of either choice. Now I don't know if anyones thought of this yet, someone probably has but let me say this even though. With :Legion, he's like a ambassador of an entire faction of Geth who have different beliefs from the rest, and with the fact that he seems to join you those beliefs might have to do with peace. Now with him further along the line you have a chance at brokering peace between those geth and the citadel races, and maybe even one day all geth. Now if you kill him, your basically guaranteeing they'll be your enemies, and you'll have a exiled Quarian who while I love doesn't help with anything in the long run.

Assuming one isn't more paragon or renegade than the other, I'm picking Legion. My commander Shepherd doesn't break the rules for anything, which makes him really cold and cool. Emotion has no place in the world of my cyborg Shepherd.

Remember, the Quarians are a non-council race just like the Geth. I see no reason why Tali wouldn't go back to her people saying Shepherd has allied with the Geth, if it gets her unexiled.

Also note that Legion's faction is very small, or he may be a bunch of Geth in one body or something.

What I'm trying to say is if theres a choice, I'm sure they'll both be pretty balanced and if not, it'll be harder to keep one than the other through dialog/choices.

It seems like a weak story device if they make you choose, especially after you've saved Tali from assassins, got her geth data for her pilgrimage, spoke up for her at her trial, and gave her a home after her exile, (and whatever ME2 loyalty stuff on top of that).

Having Tali and Legion slowly work over their differences would be way more interesting than choosing between them.

I'd choose Legion though, since whoever makes it an issue is the one who has to leave.

Rest assured. It is possible to take all the potential squadmates to the suicide mission and have them survive. If there's a chance that a choice has to be made between characters, it's likely that it will only be temporary or completely avoidable through Persuasion.

Luckily, I have full Charm and Paragon on my level 60.

Also, as has been said, it's better from a story standpoint to have ongoing conflict and relationship developement between hostile characters than to have one leave. We've already seen as much with Jack and Miranda.

I'm going to try everything in my power to get the two to get along if it does come to that. If they can't reconcile their differences I'll simply have to change my persuasion techniques... A biotic lift over a cliff should do the trick.
I just hope that Tali doesn't pull an Alistair... She's obviously a smart character, and I would hope she would realize that having Legion in the crew would offer her the perfect opportunity to study the Geth up close without too many injuries.

I'm a Tali fan, but I agree with the OP. Understanding the Geth is paramount, and Legion could be an important part of that process.

That said, I really hope that if there is a choice, it can be overcome with high persuasion skills.

That's a good point.  It'd break game logic if you (ME1Spoilers) could persuade Saren briefly out of indoctrination, and persuade Wrex to let you destroy the cure that would keep his people from going extinct, but you can't talk Tali into allowing you to have an evolved Geth on board.

Legion, I'll leave Tali floating in Dark Space. Or leave her on the Citadel to get raped by all the Tali fanboys.

Well I highly doubt it will come to having to choose....it's been made pretty clear that it is possible to gain the loyalty of everyone and that everyone can survive the suicide mission. HOWEVER it should be 100% clear that Tali takes priority over everything else.....no individual, species or group of species is too great a sacrifice to make in order to save Tali.

Then again, I think comparing the Tali/Legion dynamic to Alistair/Loghain is way off the mark.

The feud between Tali and Legion is based on their species, it's historical.

The feud between Alistair and Loghain is deeply personal.

Loghain is (DAO spoilers) directly responsible for the death of Alistair's mentor and father figure Duncan as well as the King (who is his half brother? or something).

Loghain put the entire country in peril, and you'd be letting him join an order Alistair views as sacred in order to punish him, which is quite simply defiling it in his eyes.

Also Alistair is just an entirely unreasonable person.

Of an over rated fictional character by her fans? yes

Of a real life person, by a real life person, no.

Know the difference between "reality" and "fantasy?" Because I don't think you do.

this. DEM HIPS aside, this is galactic salvation we are talking about. an evolved combat synthetic is of far more use than some quarian with mechanical competence. just as well, legion is a scientific breakthrough, if not the most advanced synthetic lifeform out there, waiting to be studied; he can help the galaxy in more ways than one.

I am to. I'm the leader of my local rape fan club. We go out every weekend and attack women(and men) jogging in the park at night. We write storys about rape, share rape recipes, all that stuff.

Legion - those geth could also help in bringing the fight to the reapers since they worked along side them for a while.

Oh yeah. I forgot that rape was funny, depending on the context.

You know what? I'm not even going to bother with you. I'm too disgusted.

Okay, seriously, let's drop the rape stuff. It's about as far from funny as you can get and it's even further from the topic of the thread.

And for the record, I hope we can keep both. The interactions alone would be priceless.

But my main Shep has to stick with Tali. Surprise, I know.
