I really hate it when I walk into the grocery store and there are only 1-2 registers open with at least half a dozen of people in each waiting to be serviced. And I had an experience just like that recently.
Just earlier today, I had to make a grocery run for three items. I walked in, grabbed the items, and proceeded to the registers. First thing I noticed that out of 16 registers (4 of them being automated checkout registers), only two of the man-operated ones were open. The other 14 were closed and the two that were open had at least 7 people with heavily filled carts in each one. What made it worse is that the line I was in had a person pull out a whoke book of coupons that she already used. So the cashier had to spend a good few minutes to explain to the customer why her coupons could not be used. I eventaully left and went to a store a couple blocks away to get the food I needed because I was annoyed at the slowness of the store.
There should have been more staff to open additional lanes to get more people in and out.. They could have at least opened the auto registers so the customer traffic could be spread out and people could check themselves out. Other than that, my day has been going well.
