The infiltator is much better. The soldier is different, and it might be argued that it's better. The engineer is very different, with no clear cut as to which one is better, in my opinion.

As for the others, n7 win.

Really, the infiltrator? Thats probably the one where i feel the shadow, more than any of the other matchups, outclasses. As a melee kit, the shadow is insane, it's like vanguarding while cloaked, but she can be specced into just as good a sniper as well if you wanted to.

Melee Shadow is awesome just as long as your teammates are not so. As soon as the team becomes pretty good, a melee focused Shadow becomes crap. In the time you SS something, the entire spawn is dead already.

If you spec her as a sniper she's good, sure. She's an infiltrator after all. But a HI will be superior for that thanks to cryo blast, the most underestimated power on bsn. Stickies are very good too as long as you're aware of their mechanics, and easily keep the balance on the HI's side even once you factor in the utility of SS and slash in a Shadow sniper build.

N7 are brutally superior.
The only vanilla kit that can compete with it's N7 equivalent is the Soldier.

Vanilla infiltrator destroys the shadow.

Lordamercy, this thread just made me realize how much I use the alien/synthetic races.

Because I don't often field the original or N7 humans other than every now and then when the mood strikes.

Hmmm...

That's not true, actually.

I use quite a few different kits when I play with good players, and the melee Shadow is one of the few where I generally score comparably with my friends.

Like anything else, it depends on the player, and what playstyle suits them. I will score higher with a melee Shadow than with most other kits. It's (apparently) a hard class to use, but it still has diverse capacity that applies in many situations, which means someone who knows the kit well is going to go beyond the "numbers."

Also, a melee Shadow does not have to rely on Shadow Strike, something a lot of people don't seem to realize. When it does, it's doing so to continue being offensive at a time when most other kits would have to wait for their shields to recover, meaning more killing.

A Shadow's heavy melee can OSK up to three targets at once, and takes a fraction of a second to execute. I don't think a lot of people take that into account when judging the kit's offensive capability.

For me
Human adept as I can't fury better than him in plat
Human soldier as I find him more fun and equally destructive
Human engineer as I have a soft side for the kit but demogirl may be better
N7 paladin clearly
Human infiltrator for that shooty build
None as I find the smashgaurd to be better. If strictly between the two then novagaurd

Lol.

HI doesn't need duracane to shine. In terms of damage output shadow can't even dream about that of HI.

It's one of the more ridiculous statements I've seen here.
