I am close to doing the Derelict Reaper and was initially thinking about using Mordin and Samara. But then I started wondering how Grunt might deal with all those husks. I have taken him on this mission before and I haven't seen anything different about him than other squadmates, but that may be because I always put my squad in cover and we are able to kill off the husks before they can get too close. That was on veteran difficulty though. On insanity it may be that the husks will be able to get within striking distance. So will Grunt suddenly become a head-butting whirlwind, or what?
My general strategy here will be to move forward far enough to trigger a wave, retreat, kill off the initial husk assault, then deal with the Scion(s), before triggering the remainder of the husks in that section. I am wondering if during the retreat phase Grunt's inner Krogan will kick in and he will start to melee any husks that get close.
(I kinda wish Grunt's ME2 AI was similar to his ME3 AI. Of course, its easier to tank in ME3 than ME2.)

Not really, Grunt is perhaps the weakest squadmate overall, his charge kills a husk sometimes . I'd say Mordin and Samara are the best allaround team for huskhunting, they both have aoes on short cd both for stripping and finishing husks.

Unfortunately husk swarms are usually paired with a Scion in this mission, except for the first couple waves. Grunt cannot efficiently kill husks with melee, and will probably get killed by Scion shockwaves if you leave him to his own devices.
Samara / Mordin is probably one of if not the strongest squad on this mission.
