I just did Thane's LM and this is the first time I didn't take the paragon interrupt. Just wanted to see what happens if you don't take it. I was then presented with the choice of shooting Kolyat or killing Talid, so I shot Kolyat. He falls down, cries out in pain, and Shepard kicks away his gun. But then, lo and behold, the rest of the scene plays out exactly as if you had shot the lamp instead. Da fuq? A second ago he was writhing in pain. I guess he had some medigel stashed away.
Of course, it gets even worse if you kill Talid. I just looked up a youtube vid of Shepard killing Talid. Basically three lines of conversation change: 2 for Shepard and 1 for Kolyat. After that everything plays out exactly the same. Kolyat is arrested for attempted murder, and Shepard, who just committed murder right in front of two cops, walks free. Yikes! Does BW write this stuff with the expectation that no one will ever see it and find out how poor some of their writing can be?
Why isn't Kolyat writhing on the floor in pain?

In the current trilogy run I'm doing, I killed Joram Talid.
Were you still able to get Thane's loyalty with his son being arrested?

I guess its safe to say that the only way to not gain Thane's loyalty is to lose track of Talid which in turn leads Koylat to kill Talid.cap and gown wrote...

It's one of the more lolzier renegade moments, I think Bioware simply assume that renegades don't care about story immersion and just enjoys casual violence for the power trip. They seem mostly right, it doesn't seem to matter how psycopathic an action is, some will always argue they are necessary and acceptable.
