I beat all the pinnacle station stuff on my hardcore difficulty playthrough and I've regretted it ever since. Every day of my life I wake up with regret for having done that. Ahern's mission is an unbelievable biotch.

Pinnacle Station is awful. I found it a chore to play through the first time rather than fun. In subsequent playthroughs I've just skipped it.

The only reason to get Pinnacle Station is for the achievements...

Or as a severe instrument of self-inflicted mortification.

I love it.  There are only a few that are really hard.  The best part is that you get that house and can order high level gear.

If you´re able to survive the extraction re-enactment, I doubt you´re in need of better gear. You can handle anything the game can throw at you.

Oh that's true. :)

I just like the look of Wrex's Geth armors.  Mostly I get the house so I can make sure I get the level X version of all my favorite outfits.  :D And its the only bloody place I've found where I can refill for free my grenades without having to refill them on a mission.

Lyria, I think the only place I was able to find geth armor for Wrex was during the last citadel battle. Near the geth ship. As soon as your inventory becomes updated from the kills, search and see if it´s there. I don´t know if you play on xbox, but on PC his geth armor appears almost every time I play the final mission.

I played Pinnacle Station once for completeness, but I don't see myself including it in any future playthroughs. It feels like an odd way to add content that they didn't actually need to build much content for.

Well its a way to get a proper shop that will sell gear at various tiers.  Free grenades if you spam them like I do depending on the class.
I've never gotten Wrex's geth armor(s) from anything but that house store.  I get random colossus armors for ma ladies but can't get a bloody good armor for wrex without that house.  I've searched every chest, corpse, box, crevice in the game on a new game plus at level 60 and nothing but mods I sell for money to buy enough tier x armors from that house. lol.  It really bugs my OCD when I can't match my armors as well so there's that.

That´s why I love playing on PC, way more than consoles. With just a few console commands and you can customize your entire gear in no time. Including having acess to material that was once planned, but ended up being scraped prior to release. After seeing the pc version and everything it offered I could never return to xbox360 again.

I'm considering rolling into Pinnacle Station for the sake of leveling to 60 there, or at least getting a huge chunk of xp out of the way through the course of getting my Renegade to 60. Is it really viable to play through there on one of the survival missions to get tons of XP?

It is impossible to get to level 60 in one playthrough unless you are on PC and give yourself more XP through console commands. Unlike the rest of the game where you get XP for killing enemies, in Pinnacle Station, you only get XP for each mission you complete in the simulator. Note that once you get XP for the mission once, you can no longer get XP for doing that mission again.

Skipping that epic pain then. I did it once already for all the marbles and I aint ****** around with that **** again.

I know that I can pull enough for 52-53 when I run through with the collection missions involved though so I can have a big case of the fuckits when I finish my Renegon run.

The mako segments are so dull, so boring, so tiresome, that I would rather do a third play of only the story segments, than doing 2 obtaining all the collectibles.

Or better yet, play on pc and jump to level 60 before even leaving the normandy to eden prime.

Bioware, since 1995 creating some of the best games and the worst mini-games on the market.

Mako, Hammerhead, decripting, hacking, scaning, digging, mining... all repetitive, boring, irritating and deviating from the main premise.

I would gladly exchange the mako and scanning segments from me1 for a new hub, like the one on therun, or half a dozen side-quests with character interaction.

But no, they have to make all these boring segments, when you need to take long walks with a slow character or vehicle, in order to mask the fact that a heavily narrated game is much, much shorter than baldur´s gate 2. They have to make the game feel bigger and longer than it is.

I don't find it really great but it is an excuse to be able to have a constant combat sim if you want?  You get experience for your sims, I thought too, unless I'm wrong (memory) which would help you be levelled for other stuff you do after the station.

Yeah, its a grind.  I mean, if you don't enjoy the combat.  And if you do, most people I think would simply replay ME

You know what could be really cool? If there was a holodeck mode on every me game, so you could replay all the battles you´ve already beaten. I miss some segments, and having the chance to easily replay them would be fantastic.

I'm honestly surprised that it takes the better part of a day to go through most of the side quests when working over collection stuff. Even if the majority of it is quite forgettable.

That´s necessary (or so they think), in order to make the game last 40 hours. All Bioware games live under the shadow casted by Baldur´s Gate 2 and the 200 hours it takes to solve everything.

Otherwise, you could easily finish it in less than 14, including the side-missions that do not involve collectibles.
