i dont mean an exact copy of shepard... i just assumed cerberus would want to make supersoldiers... using the galaxys best human... Shepard. so i thought there may be a cell operating somewhere on this project. makes sense right...? theres no connection to shepard except the dna your created from.. like grunt.. you would see images but wouldnt feel any connection.. this way it wouldnt be shepard 2.0 but a different person completely... it would satisfy those wanting shep in someway and those wanting someone new... only problem is for those wanting to be an alien...

For sure this idea is far better than pretend that everything never happened or make it in a paralel universe as BW implied a few months back.

We play as a tank born clone made from shepards DNA.
Were found in a long abandoned cerberus facility... only one active pod remains... the cerberus symbol displayed proudly on the wall... a team enters searching through the base and its records... one of them walks to the pod and reads a nearby datapad...  turning to the others.. shocked... we understand only one word... "Shepard!"...

The Camera zooms into the pod and we are given options to customize the way he/she looks... also... he/she wouldnt have sheps memories.. so we would be given a fresh start.. a  true blank slate for a personality.

This would satisfy those wanting a connection to shepard... and satisfy those wanting a new character... this is the storyline i want.. but who knows... i thought the clone in mass effect 3 was a clue to what might come next... not just for fun...

Its like a cross between Grunt and Javik... tell me what you think...

Terrible idea.

We want a new PC that has no connection with brickhead Shepard.

If the dialogue system remains the same the new PC is going to be equally brick like.

Having said that lets keep Shepard dead, or mostly dead.

Agreed.

Shepard needs to stay dead and his squadmates need to be either dead, retired, or MIA.

Let's start with a clean slate.

Well, if they did that, I would at least expect them to call him/her Alex S. and destroy Chicago at the beginning of the game.

At least that way, they would keep consistent with the ME3 endings. ;)

I'd rather play as a completely new character than play as a Shepard clone.

It is a big galaxy with trllions of inhabitants. There is plenty of room for heroes that don't have Shepard's DNA.

Here's how they're gonna bring Shep back in ME4:

During the final conversation with the catalyst, Shep decides that none of the choices offered by starkid are any good, and refuses to use the crucible. This will be the canon choice.

Meanwhile, starkid has realized his solution, to quote, "won't work anymore." He wants to see if Shep can do it again, so he puts Shep into suspended animation, leaves him on the citadel with the keepers programmed to wake him up at a certain point in the next cycle's evolution, sometime before the reapers are due to show up.

Shepard suffers javik's fate and has to convince a whole new cycle that the reaper threat is real.

But that means leaving almost everything that we know and love about the universe behind. That, and it means fighting Reapers again.
