I don't know how DAI is actually going to be designed BUT for sake of argument lets say that you are given options on how to gain support. (These are situations where you are dealing with rational people and not monsters/crazies etc)

Let's say that most options will come down to a more political/diplomatic route or a more "attack and conquer" option. The more peaceful option takes more time and requires more compromise on your part but if successful it will always be there for you. On the other hand, the conquer option is much faster and requires little compromise on your part BUT in the end you will always have to be worried about the people being loyal and actually supporting you when the time arises.

Also keep in mind, the whole time this is happening the "clock is ticking" and you need to garner as much support as possible, as fast as possible. So going the diplomacy route you will probably not get everything done that you need to and in the attack option you can easily get to all of your objectives.

Knowing your own play style what route do you think you will take?

They aren't always your enemies per say, just a group of people with different views than those of the Inquisition. They might be people you actually like BUT they don't want to owe allegiance to your philosophy.

I'll try to be as diplomatic as possible in my first playthrough. My Inquisitor will go out of her way to find a "peaceful" solution - or, rather, one that involves less conflict and death. If a situation warrants an "attack and conquer" approach, than she will choose that option. The reason being, I feel that "certain" support is better than "uncertain" support. When the need for support arises, my Inquisitor will expect unwavering loyalty from her troops and her allies alike.

If I believe a faction/group are worthy (as in honorable, selfless sorts) of being saved, I will always try to be diplomatic to the fullest extent.

If I don't, well...

Heh, divide et impera, nice reference there.

I myself would likely use the diplomatic option up until I get to a point where I meet dislikeable people.

Like for instance: one should always immediately conquer Orlesians, for otherwise, they'll throw their animals at us.

It pretty much depends on my current inquisitor's personality and philosophy...
Where one of my inquisitors take the diplomatic peaceful approach in one playthrough ,the other may go with the aggressive/conquering option.
My main Inquisitor however, will be something in the middle leaning more towards the diplomatic path though she won't hesitate to attack and conquer when necessary, that mainly has to do with her being the underdog, in a society already hostile towards her, which implies that she can't afford to make more enemies but neither can she allow herself to look vulnerable.Although she will always strive to be morally right, whether she succeeds or not.

Depends on who I am dealing with and what they have said or done during the short time frame in which I met them. I try to deal with problems peacefully, unless I take a serious disliking to whoever it is I am talking to. In which case I will dupe them with by feigning diplomacy and then wiping them out.

The same school Stannis Baratheon attended as well.

I think it's hard to say without knowing ahead of time definite scenarios, but I think my first play through will be a 'do what must be done' dwarf, ends justify the means for this child of the stone!!!

My first playthrough will be to conquer everyone letting them know she won't be pushed around. Her magic staff will do her talking for her.

Far too merciful, tbh.

Ahem.

"'To the pain means that the first thing you lose will be your feet below the ankles. Then your hands at the wrists, next your nose... The next thing you lose will be your left eye, followed by your right... Your ears you keep, and I'll tell you why: so that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish; every babe that weeps at your approach; every woman who cries out, 'Dear God! What is that thing?' will echo in your perfect ears. That is what 'to the pain' means; it means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery, forever."

:innocent:  You both were dull.

On topic: It really depends upon the circumstance, but I generally try to choose diplomacy for the most part.  It may not always be conventional, but I try to do the peaceful option.

I did, just brought up the other quote.  The one you use was from earlier in the movie.  :P
