For the last 2 days the so-called "Online Storage Servers' have not been working, rendering it a bit difficult to uploading characters and other data. Don't know if anybody else has noticed it while checking the 'Profile Diagnostics' but I'd like to get an explanation for this from someone, who's working with these servers, as to why they haven't been fixed and/or why they are down to begin with? Thanks in advance.

If they are closing down the servers for Origins then that would be what I'd regard as an 'answer' but so far I've received none. What I want is answers and if it's the like you say then that's quite disappointing.

It might be worth posting a comment on Jeff Rousell's wall since you probably can't PM him (if you are not friends).

He'd be the best shot at getting a real answer about your question, OP.

If you want me to jump in full speculation mode, perhaps they were hoping to achieve a custom avatar system between the time the servers were turned off, and by the time said system would be launched. (Going under the assumption that it is a Custom Avatar System in the works)Or perhaps there's a disinterest in acknowledging people are using a "trick" to upload custom avatars. End Speculation Mode.

It's not the end of the world, but it's going to get on people's nerves if it continues in the order of months.

I joined this site earlier this month and was so looking forward to having my DA:O Dalish Elf portrait as my profile photo, but I'm having the same exact problems you all are having. My achievements are uploading as I progress through the game though, which leaves me scratching my head. No photo makes me sad (among the other issues we're facing), but I guess I could use a different one...

It's been almost a month actually. Still can't play and update my profile because of the desync.

 

Also, newest DA update removed all my mods from Addins.xml... wtf.

So it seems that they've 'Legacy'd' the old site for good. I actually doubt someone will bother to re-sync all our profiles in the end.

It's disappointing, but I'm still playing and enjoying my game though. The only downfall is that my character and everything else besides my unlocked achievements won't upload. But, I guess all I can do is just roll with the changes.

Interesting that we can link to the old BSN Player Profiles on this new BSN, but the Online Storage Servers that hold the information on those old profiles are still offline so you can't update characters, acheivements, etc.

 

 

Any chane of someone at bioWare spotting this on the new BSN forums and giving us an answer??

Hi all - we have a bug to look into this, but I can't speak to any sort of ETA on getting it looked at or fixed, especially since the error could be tied to a number of systems out of our direct control.

 

We are aware of the problem, but that's about all I can say right now, other than that I don't know of any plans to kill these servers; this is a bug / problem, not tied to retiring the old BSN or similar legacy content.

Thank you for answering, Brian. It's a minor thing, of course, but it would be lovely if it worked, since it's such a nice feature.
