Jade / Cerberus with the 10 waves survived medal. A good performance I think but not an exploit with the TGI and his Stim Packs.

I got targets to eliminate wave 10 with only 2 missiles left but I had enough dps to kill the first 3 Atlases without using a rocket. 

 

 

Now only London left. I will do it against the Collectors, I haven't soloed enough against them.

But, honestly, I find that the TGI makes soloing platinum quite easy. Because of the Stim Packs of course, but also for his awesome dps with any good assault rifle.

I tried a solo on Jade today and failed on wave 6 - you can just feel what I'm about to say - Devices. Did an attempt with the Harrier Quarian Marksman. I did pretty well up until that point, until I got the difficult device in the middle. So, I'm pretty excited that you did get the solo done on Jade vs Cerberus. 10 WS is no small feat, buddy.

I imagine your pain, devices can be a nightmare on Jade. I have been lucky to not get them (pizzas, escort, targets).

It's actually not that bad. I had a wave 9 fail as I got too cozy with a phantom. Wave 9 is the only PITA because wave lolphantom DR and collectors have the least number of phantom waves (only 1), and they have huge heads.

 

I want to try again but not enough time. :/

I think also that it's doable. I agree that Phantoms are a pain for the Quarksman, since he doesn't have any power to deal with them. The solution can be to take a secondary weapon only to deal with them... or to massively nuke wave 9.

When I soled the collectors with the claymore soldier I just ignored the Phantoms. Banshees and Captains can drain the wave budget in reasonable time.

Fun? Collectors/Jade? ****** nightmare: that's what it is!

 

Just did an "attempt" - I say it like that, because I am utterly disgusted by how poorly I performed - and got destroyed, badly. I went in with a good mood and high hopes after a fairly good attempt versus Cerberus on that map with the same character. That high spirit was quickly squished. Jesus Christ. And the worst part, I was actually pretty accurate; I got the 10 headshots medal early in wave 2, which gave me a quick smile. The main problem I quickly ran into (even on wave 1), was how to move around Jade versus Collectors.

 

The Scions are bloody campers, whilst the Praetorians and Aboms pushed me hard. Especially on wave 3, when there are 3 Scions, I simply ran out of space to move in a hurry. Add to that, the sheer amount of DPS that comes flying at ya - especially for a squishy character with no line of defense/damage reduction like the Quarksman - and you'll understand why I used Opps Packs like crack in the early waves. On wave 3, I got a hack and I got sniped by a clever Ravager on the balcony; here, I just quit...even though I still had 5 gels. I was just stunned, nailed to the ground.

 

For me, it was a sobering experience. Rarely in this past half year, have I failed this hard on a solo. It's quite painful to be confronted with your flaws like that. Lately, I've been blinded by my own arrogance. I kept telling myself and others I could solo like the best of them, but I failed to see how many glaring holes still excist within my game. My spawn control and situational awareness is still a work in progress. And I've gotten so accustomed to Cerberus, that I forgot how tough the Collectors really are.

 

They move at quite a different pace, they sneak up on you, push you out of cover, and flank you better and more effectively than Cerberus could ever do on Jade. I just got outmatched, thoroughly owned on what many people call the easier waves of Collectors/Platinum. Those first three waves almost took me 15 minutes (!), because I constantly had to move to avoid getting downed. I got a couple of well-placed Saber shots in, and I took a few hits from somewhere on my flank. Throughout waves 1 and 2, I got cornered a little too often. Jade doesn't allow you to follow a solid rotation, really, like you can on Giant, Ghost or White. If a Possessed Scion blocks the LZ area, you're screwed. Well, I was during the solo. It made me realize how badly I personally depend on such a flawless rotation, how much I lack the flexibility of a real solo'er like both of you gentlemen.

 

Back to the drawing board it is, for me, guys. I'm not even pissed, just had a quick Collectors-induced reality check, haha. Part of the fun of doing solos, is learning and adapting to the challenges you're faced with. I have faith I can do a Saber Marksman solo, but I've no idea where to start with Collectors/Jade. If any of you have pointers on this challenge of mine, I am all ears. (Just via a PM, since I don't want to spam this thread too much)

Reactor might be a good choice. Lots of space to move around. Yeah, I did Jade...don't even know why. Just readied up, and went: "Let's do this!"  

 

 

EDIT: Tried Reactor Hazard, but I ran into more of the same issues. More related to DPS, pressure, spawn control, Seeker swam BS, this time. The Collectors are just a bridge too far, at the moment. During team games, I do great against them. But in a solo setting, they outmatch me in every way. They just have so many ways to hurt and surprise you. The Praetorians and (Possessed) Scions have unlimited range, and on Reactor they will often shoot (Lazors/Nades) through small gaps, sometimes from angles I'm completely unaware off. Add to that, the Captains are a pain with those swarms and high DPS.

 

I need to crack this code, man! How to stay on your feet versus the Collectors. One thing I've noticed quickly, is how they are less easily manipulated than Cerberus or the Reapers. Any tips?

^ Oh pal, I wasn't thinking about Jade ! Don't feel hurted by your failure, what you have attempted was extremely difficult. There are only 5 solos with the Quarksman in the HOF : 4 are on Giant, 1 on White ! If I had myself to solo with him, I would choose Giant.

@Kobe: I feel sorry for you but I am not sure what else to say other than abuse RHA and aim for those heads. May be you could try giant and LZ camp? There's literally no other strategy with the saber QMS. You just have to keep using RHA and shooting stuff. :/

 

Also, you can stagger lock crabs and scions with headshots. It'll stop them from shooting back.

You don't have to feel sorry, mate. We all have our limits. I tried my bloody best, so it's okay. 

 

I just find myself in an endless kiting situation against the Collectors. I just got to wave 5 on Ghost, and it took me 30 (!) minutes. Each time I try to work on an enemy, a Possessed Scion lobs his grenades, a Abom gets close, Praetorian missiles/lazor hits me, and later there's double Banshees. Just a lot of pressure and headache. Because of my stupid wrist injury, my shots end up all over the place when targets move. It just puts an enormous amount of pressure on me, man. For instance, if a Possessed Abom gets close, I can't risk going for the head...as that'll likely cost me dearly. BOOM!

 

So, I think I'll leave those Collectors for you, man.
