Sorry, was trying to put this in the spoiler forum but did not see a 'Post New Topic' button like all the other forums had. :/

So
almost the first thing that happens upon getting into the castle is
speaking to Jowan in one of the cells. I haven't completed the rest of
the castle yet but this guy sounds pretty harmless. That and there's
the whole 'I want to make up for all the crap I've done.' So I find it
odd that my approval rating from Sten goes down after I let him out.

Oh?
What's this? A big bad Qunari who slaughtered an entire family does not
like me letting out poor little Jowan? Oh, right, I think there are
some similiarities here....

Let's see, a very capable and
dangerous Qunari who slaughtered an entire family and was left in a
cage to rot but wants to repent is nothing at all like a questionably
dangerous Blood Mage who got in trouble with the mage circle for
practicing forbidden arts, was left to rot in a jail cell but wants to
make up for?

It bothers me that Jowan has almost the exact same
situation as Sten and yet he doesn't like it when you release him.
Completely hypocritical.

Granted, I'm still early on in the game
and hardly know a thing about Sten's story but so far he's been
incredibly irritating. Oh, so you get upset when I try to help people,
hm? What was that little bit about trying to repent for slaughtering
people?

I'd love to get the chance to tell Sten to stfu next time he starts complaining.

You'll note, perhaps, that Sten initially neither wanted to be let out of his cage nor thought he *should* be let out of his cage. If you think there are similarities between Sten's story and Jowan's, consider the possibility that Sten sees those same similarities.

And you'll have plenty of opportunity to argue with him -- as you'll no doubt eventually find out, if you care to.
