Please, could you share Cerberus' financial report with all of us?

I've always been curious about the exact amount of money they actually have....

The answer, apparantly is "Enough for Bioware to do whatever the frak they want, screw logic."

Remember. Cerberus is as strong and competent as the plot needs them to be!

That's the exact impression I've had. It doesn't feel like a bunch of resourceful supervillains, it's more like Lupin III or murder she wrote.

It's funny.. Mass Effect has accumulated enough cool characters that it's like a Street Fighter game. Once they made the choice to make a big squad, I think it was a mistake to go back to smaller. Especially for a big war. It would've been cool to get a sample of all of them.

Except  the squad we did get had little enough content (except Liara and Garrus).  If we went baqck to having a dozen squadmates, or even more, we'd have had a ship full of mimes.

The mistake was in having such a ginormous squad in ME2 to begin with.

If it was a mistake, I wouldn't still like it to this day. I bought ME2 almost 4 years ago to the day.. I'm rarely that passionate about older games.

Eh. It doesn't really matter. What's done is done. ME2 fans got ****ed, and the series is over now. There's no way of rectifying it, and no use in debating it.

I think it was a mistake to make a whole game revolving around a bunch of characters (many of them totally two dimensional and pointless cliches) and little else more, in the first place. ME2 is a cool game, but as a story - a follow-up to ME1 and a prequel to the final chapter - fails in many ways. It's a l'art pour l'art character-fest, with a boring suicide mission as the goal set. ME2 has no main plot, has barely to do anything with ME1's plot and its aftermath and the reapers, it lacks tension and the feel of urgency, makes the reapers look like 2-bit schoolyard bullies (Harbinger) and the main villians cause no real threat at all, plust the forced Cerberus plot and the revival of Shepard is just ridiculous. It's a spectacular and entertaining game, but totally pointless as a chapter of a trilogy and as a story. I'm glad, they went back to actual story-telling in ME3.

ME2 would work fine as a spin-off or a stand alone adventure, but it just does not work in the context of the trilogy. As a self-contained rpg, it would be the best of the 3 games, if it had a solid plot. But the way it is, it's my least favourit ME-game.

OP, imagine being at that stage, or above, and witnessing the biggest screeching overreaction in all of gaming history.

That's where a lot of us were, but we had to endure people screeching about Bioware for thousands and thousands of hours.

Yeah nearly 2 years later and the forums are barely getting back to tolerable levels.  Fortunately most of the screeching has died down and the ones that are still difficult are the same ones that were difficult back in the ME 2 days.  And the difficult ones know who they are.

Good to see there's people standing above me, defining what's a suitible reaction.

I mean, seriously, I can't get away with that level of hyperbole.

Took two years for the furor to finally die down a bit.

Gee, you don't think there were people who had a problem with the game, do you?

It was still an overreaction sniffles, if you go to other places outside of the bsn you realize there are plenty of people that still love the game even if they were not happy about the ending.  And as far as people have problem with the game, well they are gamers.  As a whole gamers tend to be whinier than average.  Pretty much every game that comes out has people whining about it.  Makes me wonder if some gamers are capable of enjoying anything.

I am doing an ME 2 run right now.  I can't believe that game is now 4 years old.  It just does not feel old to me.  It still looks and feels good.

The combat doesn't feel as good too me after playing ME3 for 100+ hours, but quality wise I have to agree ME2 still oozes polish and they did a great job building a story that would last with good visuals to boot.

yes because I still can't replay mass effect 1 and I did that every year untill mass effect 3 happend

I miss being able to like and enjoy the first two games but 3 killed it dead and there is still a part of me that wants to play it but thats the level of hatred I have for that ending and everything it stands for

that ending is saying games should be movies when I would always pick games over movies for me there is no comparison games win every time

I don't hate the whole game, but it's riddled with flaws and suffers from bad writting. The ending sucks, but there are even worse parts before you get there.

I've met just as many people still dissatisfied with it outside the forum personally.

I've had the same experience.

After EC I uninstalled the entire trilogy, and I still haven't had the heart to reinstall ME1 (or ME2 for that matter)

It's a rare thing that a game's ending not only wrecks the game itself, but ruins the experience of its predecessors as well.  I had not thought it possible.  But there it is.

Yep.  Also plenty that don't.  But until I signed up here I had never run into anybody who liked the ending.  And there were even a few here who said it was "perfect".   So the extreme lovers are as over-represented here as the haters.

It was an hyperreactive whiney overreaction from spoiled whiney crybaby gamers to ten minites of a forty hour game.

I will admit I didn't truly realize how much better the combat in ME3 was until I went back into ME2.  Of course the best way to get ME 2's combat to feel good is to go back to ME 1

Or was it a justified response to a capriciously arbitrary ending that is tonally and thematically dramatically different from the game trilogy people had been playing for five years? Image IPB

And I repeat, it was unprecedented backlash.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I love me3, I do like and enjoy it. however, if it wasn't for the ending... I would have gone that far, cause I would've loved it.
