I have to add one more to the ever growing throng of " I'd like x" threads. I want to see a Mage/Templar character who is unabashedly in hate with the other function. To the point where they're willing to defy the factions hierarchy just to inflict pain on the other faction. It could easily go either way , the Mage/Templar not trying to justify anything, just stating their hate and anger was caused by something and now the other faction deserves whatever they do to them. Something like "you didn't see what they did to us in those towers"/"you've never seen what a cornered abomination can do".
Plus saying that they don't owe their convictions to belonging to faction X.  Having the Mage say "you think I need to be a Mage to see the injustice of the circles?" Or theTemplar saying something similar about the dangers I unsupervised mages. Thoughts?

edit: TLDR I want a Mage or Templar character who isn't just a DA2 archetype or "I am a (faction here) therefore all (other faction) are bad"

In all honesty, I think we need to focus on a different story thread for once. The only thing that these Templars vs Mages threads seems to bring is yet more division and strife among the fanbase, for no good reason. It's been talked about to death and it can usually cause some pretty destructive debates.

All I know is, when the PC has to deal with elements of the Robes versus Skirts war, there had better be an option C. As the Inquisitor, I don't want to spend all of my time worrying about humans in dresses. With the giant rips in the Fade, that's a tad more pressing.

But Discriminatory killings are half the fun!

I'm joking of course.

The Templars are obviously in the right.

Starsyn, I don't want skirtsvsrobes to be the main focus, and I'm more interested in the other conflicts, but it will pop up, and I'd like something a little different to occur.

come on lets all agree that we all want a character that just skips down the road killing people left and right while humming Bad Touch.

The solution to this conflict is synthesis - the end result will be memplars: half organic, half demonic.

More seriously, I hope they come up with some real information soon, the threads here seem to be getting quite oddball.

i agree, option c desperately needs to come back to the DA  series, Bioware games have always been good at option c, i don't know what happened with DA 2

I have to admit, I actually dislike the option C in DA:O.
It always felt like: stop being lazy and get your optimal ending!

No matter how much I loathed the Deep Roads, the decision for the new Dwarven king was the most intresting
for me - The decent hu.. dwarf, who is a weak ruler or the rutheless reformer?

In DA2 the final decision -no matter how pointless it may be for the story =P- felt much more intresting to me, since Anders blow up option C.

So basically what you want are one-dimensional characters without any depth or personality traits besides hating the other side. Basically the unnamed NPC mages or templars we get to kill in droves, except these ones have names.

Yeah, we need our Mass Effect 3 style three-choice ending, who is with me?!

/stirs hornet's nest

On a serious note, I think Cullen in DA:O was sort of like this, thogh he was powerless in his situation, so all he could do was encourge you to kill everyone in the Circle. In one of the epilogues he went berserk though, so that at least counts as a half.
