Can't Get Follower to work

I'm just starting out with the Toolset, trying to make a custom-voiced follower (simple follower) using this tutorial:

I've followed it very closely step-by-step, but every time I test the party picker in game she's not there, nor is she where I tried to put her in game (Redcliffe village tavern). I think some key explanations are missing from the tutorial. I don't understand the scripting part, as in, should the 3 scripts mentioned in the tutorial be 3 separate, or one script? I have tried both with same result: nothing. I can't figure out how to put her into the world.

I've been modding Skyrim for a year and a half and familiar with that kind of scripting, so I'm not a -total- modding newbie, just new to DA toolset. I have the character, creature, head morph, and dialogue created and linked.

Also, whenever I try to preview a dialogue line, it gives an error "cannot load stage" but I have no idea what that means.

Please help someone... thanks.

That is the tutorial that I started with - and then had a LOT of help from other modders (who I continue to thank).

But let's go step by step because if you can't get the future new Companion to appear in the correct location, you aren't going to be able to recruit him/her. Are you using a PRCSCR to place the follower?

If you are using the PRCSCR file, then I suggest that you look at this conversation:

I also suggest that we reactivate use of this group: http://social.bioware.com/group/1148/ It hasn't been active for a while, but it might keep conversations about writing new Companions in one location so that future modders can find resources in (mostly) one place.

You mention the companion not showing up in the party picker, however you also say they don't appear at their spawn point. They won't show up in the party picker until after they have been recruited, so how are testing that?
