giving anything away, just giving a point by point review of what is striking
to me.
Fuel won’t let you leave the system until you get more – you
don’t get stranded apparently…at least, not that I’ve seen.
Some squad member abilities are locked based on loyalty
You can treat other species well/not so well now, somewhat
absent from the first game
There are some weapon lockers in levels, not always needed
to go back to the Normandy to switch
Combat looks smooth, but one full clip from enemies might
kill you even on lower difficulties, enemy focus fire will take you down very
quickly
Looks like heat sinks might be weapon type specific – can’t confirm
Music fits the atmosphere well
Smgs look difficult to handle
Equipment Mods are interspersed throughout levels, some are
found, hacked, or bought, they need to be “researched” to be implemented though
it seems. Researching costs raw materials, buying “plans” costs credits. Pretty
sure mordin is necessary for the implementation aspect
Not all enemies drop heat sinks, doesn’t seem like enemies
that have biotic powers (lift, throw – not warp) used on them drop heat sinks
(might not be the case/unverified)
Batarians’ view(unpleasant) of humans may be well earned in
some instances, you can affect this
Mordin is a consistently fast talker, though easily
understandable. With the pauses he makes between sentences, you can read the subtitles
if need be
Loading times can be pretty long on the 360.
Shepard can really seem threatening now…voice acting isn’t perfect,
but maleshep is great imho.
Voiced codex returns, same voice too
You can acquire minerals in missions (on foot), probes can
be wasted
Sol system is open for exploration
Vorcha(vorchi?) are not good at keeping secrets
Teammates will acknowledge headshots/actions that take
skill.
Digital acting has improved immensely. Fascinating how well
they can convey relief.
There are a few accents other than Australian in the game, Scottish
being a very nice touch J
A lot of people acknowledge you for your fame, some begrudge
you it
The veins aren’t as obnoxious as they might seem, when you
see them, you need to get rid of them immediately. They don’t last long, but
about 4 seconds out of the line of fire and they’re gone. When you’re about to
die, they do obstruct view a bit though.
Mordin seems to embody paragade; Mordin, imho, is very
likable
Not everyone working for Cerberus likes Cerberus
The yeoman is indeed attractive…with unique hair. Femsheps will
probably have a lot more options.
There can be a lot of rockets fired at you at once…watch
out. (also, you can dodge them)
Only my opinion…but planet scanning looks like it can become
very tedious, you could cover a planet in probes, if you wanted to waste them.
Be prepared to lose around 10 probes at a planet, possibly more, 5+ minutes if
you want to put time into it.
Each mineral type seems to affect different research, guess
what eezo might help with.
You don’t start with many outfits, might be able to buy more
later
Ship models are bought, trophies are probably earned.
While you can break up your team mates, it seems like they
might tell you to ease up as well(might go deeper than telling you to stop
sassing someone)
Loyalty doesn’t seem to be point based, more of an aggregate
of how you treat a person combined with how you act in missions vs. their value
system
While the Normandy doesn’t seem to have people moving about,
it certainly does feel more alive.
I would guesstimate 1.5 times the amount of people you could
talk to on Normandy sr-1 are available on sr-2.
Vocal “prophets” make a return
I’ve seen a krogan cowed, and it is a sad thing.
Dancing has been improved…in terms of animations at least.
Reminiscing with old characters is possible.
Grunt may just be…perfect.
The Normandy has more windows...looks impressive
Teammates comment on the environment if prompted
Achievements inform you of their progress via popups…immersion
breaking personally.
Carrie-anne moss seems rather lackluster in delivery …almost
comical that aria’s digital acting exceeds her voice acting. My opinion
entirely though
Fuel costs credits…doesn’t look too expensive, but it isn’t cheap
either. Seems…tedious.
Not all mercs are enemies, situational.
Not everyone likes paragon interrupts.
Some of your teammates are in tight spots when you hear
about them. Unsure if they can die if you decide to waste time, but it might be
possible.
Elcor bouncer. Epic.
Jack has quite the reputation.
Oh my, quite the plot twist on the prison ship
Hah, smoking has become popular throughout the galaxy.
Archangel mission is very well done.
The story really does seem to be great, even early in the
game.
Mechs and mercs seem to be ubiquitous as enemies
Jack used to[/i]
look like an uninteresting character to me
It may be that garrus might become more paragon or renegade
leaning, but it doesn’t seem he will ever fulfill the evil archetype…opinion
only though.
Lighting is superb
Enemies say more than two things now.
Swearing isn’t always necessary, but its mostly
well-implemented
Bosses are actually interesting it seems, more than just the
3?4? in me1. although minibosses might be a more appropriate term.
Urgency has made an appearance in me2; you might not be able
to play around for an entire mission without consequence. Difficulty may very
well stop you from completing a mission because of time contstraints, instead of death being the only impediment.
Some of the weapons seem to look and feel…powerful. Great
improvement. The revenant isn’t the only interesting machine gun.
It’s made apparent that you are the leader…your teammates
may even appear reverent of you at times.
Heh, some blood pack look like space marines from starcraft.
Cerberus plays a large role in the plot, a lot of people
notice and comment
Jack and Miranda are too cute together. They get along so well…
Emails don’t seem interactive. Don’t expect to reply
If you listen, some of the Normandy crew develop in story.(through
chat with each other)
You’re not the only person on the suicide mission who can
acquire scars.
Personality of the teammates really shines through…emotionally
engaging indeed. Jack is just…jack. Actually unique. I’m really glad she didn’t
turn out to be a disappointment.
Exploring all chat options can be rewarding.
Environment copy/paste seems to be a thing of the past…very
well done.
I’ve seen a few recruitment missions so far, and the
spoilers are piling on, so enough for me. If you have questions, ask away.
