Need advice for volus protector vanguard

The was some guide by a lazy guy which I tried to follow. However, this guide was apparently written for PS3 with no frames and I have trouble surviving in lol-silver solo repeating things on PC with reasonable frame rate of about 60 fps. Of course, it is possible to just skip the charge and play him with a heavy gun like tanky volus adept without stasis.But I'm looking at some meaningful way to do these waves. I tried two builds skipping fitness and skipping passives with CSMG. Both attempts ended up just shooting the gun from some respectable distance away from the enemies after a few painful deaths.
His charge is very weak in force and damage, his recharge rate is horrible, he is squishy, his weapon damage in passives is very low, etc etc. Any advice on reasonable way to play?

This is probably not the best approach but have you tried the venom?

Its ton of fun on gold... cloak charge and nutpunch.. .. one nutpunch easily kills sheilded mooks on gold, even phantoms can be destroyed with one wraith shot followed by cloaked charge and then nutpunched..

No-no, that does not work at 60 fps, sorry, no way. I don't have 5 seconds before enemies start shooting. It is less than a second. Sometimes, there is not enough time to activate shield boost, it is less than a second. The group that you charge is somewhat staggered but those enemies that have los to you after the charge, kill you instantly. He cannot dodge a rocket in close quarters or ravager shots, not fast enough, not drell.

Thanks, will try skipping the orbs, seems very reasonable with conservative accurate play.

I wouldn't skip the orbs as they will provide a 30% recharge bonus vs. the 20% from 6a on the passives. Just put three points into it. This is how I play the guy. Build is at the end

I play this,
He is incredibly tanky, and even his base melee can do quite well, if properly used

I don't really like Volus, and I don't play at 60 fps.... but I will say that being invisible helps. You should make sure you're cloaked when you're doing this.akots1 wrote...

Adding to, WHAT WEAPON are you lugging around that your recharge is 5 seconds, His recharge on charge can be reduced to 2.3 seconds if you really want, and even with a claymore it can get to under 4 seconds, so unless you are making yourself into a heavy weapons guy you shouldn't need to stand for 5 seconds between chargesMiniditka77 wrote...

I forgot a very important part in my derp-ness: The Heavy Melee. In the case that you don't get Shield Boost immediately, go to a heavy melee, especially at 60fps. You'll lose some shooting time, but you'll get rid of your survivability issue. You get, I think 50% DR from the HM, then 40% for a few seconds after Charging. Those stack. So, if you can't survive with 90% DR for 4-5 seconds and a Piranha/Reegar/Hurricane/Talon/whatever other weapon you want, I'm not sure there's much I can do.
