You want a great example of graphic sex in service of art? The Swedish version of Girl with a Dragon Tattoo. It was rape, it was brutal, it had to be explicit.
Fincher version is better

well, the sex and nudity is part of everday daily life.
everyone is different and unique in their own ways, may it be stories they make or give meaning behind the relationship on sex or nudity.

I'm pacifist so.. yeah. but I will defend myself even if I get threatened.
the point behind violence in sense of any medium is to make people see that violence is pretty much part of our daily life unfortunately.

It doesn't have a point other than, look folks, we're not afraid to show them there nipples.

One could argue the point is to advance the love story between Geralt and Triss.

I think that part you quoted was more of a general statement and not actually aimed at The Witcher 2OdanUrr wrote...

I think that's even harder to determine if you ask me. There's probably less reasoning for that one. I'm trying to think of a good reason but I don't think there's any except that people get entertainment from it.

Likewise, anything you did as a kid is considered childish.
An incredibly stupid notion, but humanity is very stupid.
Unfortunately a lot of writers think that adding sex, violence, drug and stuff like that automaticly makes it "mature".
Maturity is ill-defined and over-used as a word, so don't expect clarity there, but this gist of it is no WHAT you show, but HOW you show it. The age old "don't judge the book by it's cover, but rather by content".

Violence is the most basic expression of power.

Maybe that's why people like it, I don't know. Its still seems more pointless than nudity

Most games would be boring as hell, if there was no violence.

Sure, I agree on that, can't picture myself playing a game without violence but still. Maybe people do feel powerful in video games through violence but what about movies and other stuff, you don't really have control over anything.

I think there are some settings where it's fine and some where it isn't. The Witcher and ASoIaF both fit the former. In general, people get concerned over the wrong things. I especially find youtube's prudish policies hilarious. Severed heads and geysers of blood are A-ok while two people bumping uglies isn't.

Wa- was that a pun?
Oh, and thanks guys for your replies. I just want to remind you that this was out of academic curiosity, not conviction against sex. Like I said, I enjoy it! Some very good replies here, even the ones that aren't serious, because all of you are bloody hilarious.

Which makes games that can pull it off that much more fascinating. If you actually sit down and think about how many games are based around killing some enemy or another, you realize how few games deviate from the formula.
