What if bioware created DA:I characters based off forum posters?

That would be pretty awesome actually, that or references to BSN obsessions/arguments (worked into the story so that a random person wouldn't even think it was a reference) or an NPC like M'aiq the liar(Oblivion version) who talks about people's complaints, predictions, etc...

David has strongly suggested that's not something they do anymore because of the way the community reacts.

I don't recall any characters, but they made references to forum debates in their games, for instance with "Mako vs. Hammerhead" in ME3. That was received very well, not the least because it was written well and had the additional benefit of making two characters become more real.

I'm not sure you could make a Dragon Age character who does nothing, but complain about Mass Effect 3's ending. I think that would break immersion too much.

I would be an absolute ****show... bioware would go bankrupt within a day of release.

But if you made them all killable....

PROFITSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Think of the carthartic release to be had by slaying annyoing characters over and over again.

How about we don't do something that would drive players to suicide?

I'd be happy with the street artist NPC that scribbles portraits of the PC and companions for copper, and becomes the Conrad Verner of DA:I. I'd be happy even if it resulted in the murder knife. Totally worth it.

What does a demon of despair look like?

The front page of this forum.

Terrible jokes aside, this would be a giggle of bad taste.

I've heard many of her crazy philosophies. But I'm not sure what "impulses" you're referring to.

Javik's line about Joker referring to him as "Prothy the Prothean" was also a reference to the forums. Before ME3 was released and Javik's name was known, players were calling him Prothy.

It has happened before. Not quite literally, but in a roundabout way, BioWare has included forumites in a game. Back in the days of Baldur's Gate, "forum" personalities Gromnir il Khan and Sir Kalthorine were very active on the BioWare boards (the word "forum" is in quotes because it may still have been Rialto message boards at that point, I'm not sure). Gromnir was immortalized as the half-orc Bhaalspawn ruler of Saradush, and Sir Kalthorine's name was issued to the author of a letter found in Watcher's Keep. So it has happened. But I don't think they'll be doing that again. It was a different world, and winks at the camera were a lot more blatant.

It also didn't turn out very well.

People seem to get indignant when other community members are called out for special attention, and David has basically said it was a bad idea all around.

Though Gromnir was spot-on (I don't think there are any BSN posters who come close to deserving that sort of immortality; Gromnir earned it with that posting style—GOOD FUN!).

Yes remember the jealousy over the keep invites? it would be like that only with more screaming and demon possessions. I don't think we want that
