I don't think that elf is Dorian. I think the guy you called "Chevalier" is dorian and that he was replaced with the elf or changed into the elf/idk. 

Not heard any mention of a Chevalier companion anyway.

I don't think the elf is Dorian as well.  One of the devs recently posted something to the effect of "Why are people assuming that the elf is Dorian?"  I don't remember exactly what thread it was in though.

That was retconned to him being transferred to the Kirkwall Circle.

I think it is possible that Leliana will be a NPC that plays some role in the game, much like Morrigan, perhaps as "Sister Nightingale." I seriously have my doubts she will be a party-companion.

At about 1:17 or 1:18 you see Sera. She is just in front of Vivienne near the fire. When Sera runs near the tree, you can see a character who looks like the rumored Grey Warden companion.

They've said that there are "about the same number of companions" as the last two games, so we should expect around 8-9 companions.

We know that there are 2 female companions confirmed:  Cassandra and Vivienne.  But we only have evidence of one more:  the blonde elf rogue ("Sera").  We don't have anything else pointing to more female companions, though.  No concept art, no text descriptions, nothing.  But 3 out of 9 doesn't see like enough.

So what do you think?  Are we getting more than 3 female companions?

Idk, we had 3 in Origins, 3.5 in DA2 (cause Bethany wasn't a full time companion), so it's anyone's guess.

I certainly hope so. I'd actually like to see more variety in races too, we seem to be having a lot of human companions, a couple of elves and one each of the dwarves and qunari. Of course this is based on the above speculation and the only confirmed companions are two humans and a dwarf so... who knows?

Besides Bioware I mean... and they're not telling yet.

Seriously in two main games, the only dwarf companion is Varric? Meh, I hoped for something more...

Also since Varric is in love with his crossbow, he'd not be a romance interest, AND that means one more game that BioWare does not allow a dwarven romance.

Statisitically speaking:

DA:O had (Shale included)-

4 females / 4.5 males (discounting Dog, due to being an animal)
4 warriors / 2 rogues / 2 mages (discounting Dog, due to talent tree issues).

DA2 had (Sebastian included)-

3.5 females / 4.5 males.
2.5 warriors / 3 rogues / 2.5 mages.

DA:I might have-

5 males (Varric, Iron Bull, Grey Warden, Cullen, 'Dorian') / 3 females (Cassandra, Vivienne, 'Sera').
4 warriors (Cassandra, Iron Bull, Grey Warden, Cullen) / 2 rogues (Varric, 'Sera') / 2 mages (Vivienne, 'Dorian').


Given this, I'd say the last companion will likely be a female DLC character, perhaps a mage.
For after reviewing the links I made before, my thoughts are on this "Leliana" figure being the ninth.

As we could consider for a moment that the last two games had ginger haired female companions-
One a rogue, one a warrior. It could well be possible they're going to finalize this tradition with a mage.

Given the limited amount of concept art available at this moment in time for her, she'd be prime DLC material.

Of course, I should explain that I just so happened to pick up the term, 'Chevalier' on my search to fill in that post.

The word seemed to be in common enough usage around a few threads, so I figured I'd just go with it.

My usage of the placeholder name, 'Dorian,' is again just copying common usage.
By no means do I wish to indicate that my views are that Dorian *is* the Elf mage.

Right, I'm going to play the Devil's Advocate here, as this has gotten me interested:

If we talk about this in a logical point of view, some of the reasons why people are
naturally tying this 'Dorian' fellow together with the Elf mage, could well be because-

• The man has a piercing, smug expression that's almost sinister in its intent, here.
• He looks like Avernus, a despicable blood mage, here.
• Some of his clothes are dyed blood red, within the piece here.

Not to mention, finally, that there's this line within the survey text:

"Dorian may wield the power of the magisters, but he delights in not being what you would expect."

Which, I'm sure, could be perceived as both- accidental stereotyping and his literal appearance.

Actually in the War Room concept art you can see both "mustache guy", who I believe is Dorian, and the male elf which means they are clearly seperate characters.

Oh I origionally thought the same but I am speculating based on some of the dev comments and concept arts we have seen. Gaider said this

"I'm not going to say whether she's a companion, or if she's even still in DAI. Not every character mentioned in that survey was a companion, and some of them either no longer exist or have changed signficantly. Hence why I have said before not to hold it up as gospel-- you may be very disappointed."

So the Survey mentioned Cole, Dorian, Sera and The Iron Bull, It also listed Cullen Cassandra and The Grey Warden as companions.

 
Cass is confirmed. The Grey Warden and Iron Bull seem very likely as does Sera. 

The part about one not existing anymore interested me. Cole is already a character in the world so that leaves only Dorian which is why I think he has been scrapped. 

I think Cole has probably also been scrapped as a companion but I could be wrong. There's just nothing but the survey that suggests that he is a companion. 

I really have no idea about Cullen but he's more likely than cole so far. 

I think maybe Sera is the one who has changed significantly just coz she looks different in older concepts and nothing like how she looked in the survey (if those pics are her) she could have a different personality as well for all we know. 

I also still think there are companions we know little/nothiong about. I think Leliana is involved in the Inquisition but not as a companion so that leaves a few spaces out of the nine we are apparently getting. 

The nameless bald elf and who knows? I am hoping for another female maybe a dwarf or something.

I don't think the elven mage is Dorian so I'm just going to stick with bald elf guy since he's an bald elven mage, also as Mikey pointed out by posting Gaider's quote they could've changed significantly, or have been scrapped completely or may not be a companion.

Also not everyone in the war room is a companion either according to Gaider.

A lot of people banking on the survey and the war room being accurate or evidence that they are companion's maybe disappointed since as per Gaider not everyone in them are companions, or have changed significantly, or have been scrapped which includes Serra, "Dorrian", trident guy, guy with mustache who some devs went and said who ? to while they recognized scribe girl and teased us with knowledge of her though she may have changed aswell.

I agree with Mikey the people who may have changed a lot are Serra if that's still her name because we've seen a lot of different versions before reaching what she looks like now, Dorian could have been scrapped, changed his name and everything else and became bald elf or they are different character's.

Cullen though he may not be one or another templar could fill that position possibly a female one

Possible npc from DAO who the devs hinted at getting an expanded role like Isabella though this person could be an important npc, a companion or be Cullen they were not specific.

Though Leliana is in DAI, i'm not sure she's a companion but if she is then I wouldn't mind .

Cole may not be a companion or be a dlc one available at a later date but be in DAI.

Also as a few people mentioned i think there might be 4 females making it 5:4 male to female, making the class ratio 4:3:2 warrior rogue mage.

iv been checking the news feeds on google and all the companions were finished yesterday so they will probably show to the public in the next week or so unless EA and bioware are planning to keep in secret until the game is in stores
