Any word on companions? (potential spoilers)

Oh, I thought you meant gentle as in demeanor. I was going to say "Well Merrill sure seemed gentle and she was a companion." but I misunderstood what you meant. She could potentially be a Rogue, and simply be wearing subtle clothes to make others think she is not, but yeah pretty sure not Mage or Warrior classes.
[/quote]
I don't think she is rogue- she wears dress. Even Merril wore more battle suit outfit. IN DA rogues always wear leather armor. Except for Isabela. But even she had leather boots.
Also- she has no weapon. Only feather in her hand.

In seriousness, i agree the likelihood or her being a companion is very small, but I just like to not ful;ly refuse anything until proven just like I don't fully accept anything until proven.

But feathers are dangerous. In the right (or wrong) hands feathers can reduce even strong men/women to tears!
Seriously though all I'm drawing from the artwork atm is that Bioware has some talented artists 'cause anything else is wild speculation on my part and it's way more fun letting BSN speculate instead... it even makes my speculations look tame.
edit: formatting also i suck at quotes.

Mhn, yes. After looking at the concept art piece again, I believe I was too quick to hope my prior theory correct.
My eye missed the typical braid and haircut of Leliana, due to the untypical anger shown in the woman's face.
However, despite that, the woman from Asunder still feels like a natural fit for a 'potential ninth companion.'
If one were to say, use these statistics, she'd fill in quite a few speculative niches in the game (albeit meta like):
Follows in the 'redhead' companion tradition, keeps to a DLC (due to zero concept art) companion balance
(Shale was a Warrior, Sebastian was a Rogue), would be a character from Asunder turned into a companion,
should act as a way to tip the scales more in the females favour when it comes to companion-gender equality.
While I'll edit my post to suit the former correction, I'm still personally vouching for a female mage ninth companion (DLC).

50\\50 rogue or warrior.
Who it can be? I think Cullen or Cole are the top candidates- Cullen was on survey only and Jennifer hepler has wrote one LI char (no gender but she wrote Cullen in DA 2).
Why I thik Cole is for DLC? There is a tendention to make DLC chars sort of "freak" (Shayle, Javic) because it is exotic which can be attractive for customers.

Besides, in your opinion we should get (counting the DLC) 4 warriors, 4 rogues and 2 mages?

If Dorian is the second mage then who the hell is the elf?
I still don't see cole as likely, maybe as DLC but wouldn't dlc be companion number 10? Seems odd that they would say nine and then make us pay extra for one of them.
For some reason I am pretty sure Cullen will be a companion but there is hardly anything solid to go by.

This is why they never give us 3 mages as companions- with PC there will be 4 mages.hhh89 wrote...

Gaider already hinted that 'Dorian' isn't the bald elf. Not to mention that the character present in the survey as Dorian (the man with short hair and a moustache) is present in the concept art of the war room along with the bald elf. They seem different characters.

Given this, I'd say the last companion will likely be a female DLC character, perhaps a mage.
As we could consider for a moment that the last two games had ginger haired female companions-
One a rogue, one a warrior. It could well be possible they're going to finalize this tradition with a mage.
That could be Adrian, mage, red hair, returning character from Asunder.
Mhn, good thought, Eowyn.
It would definitely fit the ginger haired woman's ill tempered appearance in the war room concept art.
However, if this companion was formerly of the circle, I'd doubt that the developers would have put Vivienne
in the same fraternity as her. So in that case, what would Vivienne been a part of, if she wasn't a Libertarian?
My thoughts are that: given she's supposed to be unlike Wynne, but still pro-circle, that would put the
Aequitarians and Isolationists off the table. Which leaves behind the Loyalists and the Lucrosians.
However, since she wants to help her fellow mages in any way she can, I'd doubt she's a Loyalist.
So there remains just the Lucrosians, which actually fits quite well, given Vivienne's demeanour & dress sense.
To add to this notion, one should remember she's referred to as Madame De Fer by the Orlesian Imperial Court.

Dorian IS the moustache guy with the robes and staff/spear, probably is from Tevinter. Does he even look like a Chevalier to anyone, he's got Mage Robes

You do realize that he may not be Dorian or a mage and that they aren't mage robes and that his presence in both the survey and war room mean almost nothing right, given what Gaider said about them which was not everyone in them are companions, some may have changed significantly or have been scrapped.
KC_Prototype wrote...
Okay true, but I say most of them are companions and if the scribe girl isn't, she's an important npc. I believe the Iron Bull is one though, what makes you think he isn't? I do agree on the spear guy though, maybe he's been scrapped or changed a lot.Spectre slayer wrote...

If one were to extrapolate on this: it's quite possible that the Chevalier and Elf mage split into two different
character designs after the 'survey art' was created. Given the appearence of both in the same concept art.
Yeah I had forgotten about that although someone already confirmed on here that the elf ain't Dorian and that some of the people in the war room are not companions. In fact I think they may have even said several.
So we know the scribe girl isn't and we know Varric and Cass are, so that leaves the elf, the robed guy, someone who looks like Cullen and someone who looks like Leliana.
As i said my theory is that Dorian is out and that Lelianna was never a companion but I really have no idea.
I expect to be wrong about some of them at least. I have no idea if the robed guy is dorian or not he could be anyone tbh.
They didn't, what Gaider said was i'm not telling you if she isn't or is one and that another one Schumacher I believe said that he had knowledge of who she was but that was it and that he liked teaseing us with said knowledge.
We actually don't know if she is or isn't one just yet but I don't think she is, rather she's probably an ally or an agent but it could go either way, and i'm wondering if she may be a bard if so something weeks said may make more sense if she"s a companion. That helps a lot for the people who need it. I think we got our unofficial list of companions right here.
Not really since some of them may not be companions, and Gaider said those in the survey and the war room concept may not be be comapnions.
Also I disagree with a couple of them, especially the mustache guy who Schumache went " Who" to and said he didn't know him which may not bode well for him if he was serious.
Not a 100% sold on Cullen, but for now he makes sense and fits the things they've said and scibe girl may or may not be one, also there's a chance the iron bull isn't one aswell.
I agree that most of them are probably companions, the ones i'm not sure about are scribe girl who could be a companion but then again she may not be one, if so then maybe she is a rogue( bard) which would make sense and so would Weeks i'm so a bard tweet if he was talking about her or not. If she's not then yes I think she'll be an important npc with maybe a 25% chance of being a companion.
Edit
Her look may play into her being a bard, also she may have changed significantly since the survey and war room since both are pretty outdated.
Cullen has maybe a 50% chance due to numerous reasons but his presence in the survey and the war room( due to what Gaider said about both)and that we haven't seen him in the party at all yet kinda hurt his chance a of being one a bit.
But he fits the an a npc from DAO getting an expanded role which they have been doing since DA2, he's of a high rank or possibly socially significant which are some of the qualifications for a companion in DAI and is fairly popular though right not it could go either way since we don't know who the final six are, so hhe's likely an important npc in the mage vs templar war, a agent, or a companion.
Even though I want the Iron Bull as a companion, i'm not 100% sold on him being ione since in all the concepts, the footage we've never seen him in the party and is always a solitary figure and that all they've said was that we'll spend some time with him in some fashion which is really vague and could mean just about anything though I'm rooting for him being one.
Though he could be an agent, an important npc, an antagonist who we imprison, an antagonist who becomes a companion like Zevran, or someone who joins or getts recruited by us.
Some people seem to think the spear guy is Dorian for some reason even though it's unlikely that he's a mage, and that he may be a new character completely different than Dorian ( who may or may not be in DAI) that we've never seen or heard about before and wwe're in agreement on him, as for everyone else I guess time will tell since they're finished writing them and probably will release them at somepoint from now to the conventions or close to release.

No, if the warden does appear in DAI then he/she will not be playable but that's another matter entirely and not the thread for this.Pateu wrote...
Now I simply wonder if the '' Grey Warden '' companion is the Warden from the first game.
The long rumoured grey warden companion is a male human with brown or black hair and a beard and looks like this.

If you only count the confirmed and "semi-confirmed", it's a tie between male and female companions so far;)...though i would love to see iron bull as a companion (don't know crap about him but who cares;)) i think he may be even better as a leader for some kind of opposition :innocent:MevenSelas wrote...

I'd love to have a mabari again, but I wish it could be the fifth wheel like in DA2 without the whole sustained ability thing, kind of like those specific quests where you have a fifth person following Hawke, like Merrill and the Qunari mage.
