If Cole is in, he's not a mage. He has some limited blood magic type abilities, but he fights with a dagger. He's basically a magical rogue.

I think it'll be a little closer to this, and Dorian is not the elven mage.

I really don't think they are going to make that many male character's and 6 seems like to much considering they may do some DLC ones or have a 3:3:3 balance in the base game.

I like that list Spectre, I just hope that the other mage is some cool companion rather than some pixie elf like Merril or whiney Anders. I have no idea who Dorian is although I hear his name a lot so if he's the Dalish mage elf, better be cool.

If you are looking more carefully you will see that he has sword on his back.

Yeah, if Cole was in he'd be the "special" class of character, like Shale in DAO.

My guess would be a magic rogue; able to turn invisible for easy backstabs.

I'm going to attempt to make the argument that the guy that we see in the War Room concept art that we all thought was Cullen is actually someone else, and we might just know who.

My rationale is basically that the War Room concept art is probably really old at this point, and some of the characters featured in it may have gone through some major changes to their appearance.

For instance, this guy:


Has likely become this guy:


Both are elves, and both are wearing the same outfit, so chances are good they're the same person despite the other changes.

We know this second version is more recent because of Mark Darrah's update, which featured him:


So, what about this guy?


I think the chances are good that this is actually an early draft of our Ex-Grey Warden character!  
Check out the similarity in their clothes (blue shirt with a big leather strap and shoulder armor):





So yeah, that's my hypothesis.  I know it's pretty much pure speculation, but I feel like Cullen would probably be wearing his Templar armor in any concept art featuring him (such as that found in the old survey).

Not a Cullen fan, but I still think that's Cullen in that one picture. And I'm pretty sure Cullen and the Grey Warden were both pictured in that old survey, unless I'm recalling something different.

And they are very distinct, while our elf mage guy is still recognizable as the same elf mage guy, with or without hair. Speaking of elf mage guy, I'm really curious what his background is if the magister thing is completely off the table now. Because he looks Dalish, but he has no vallaslin. Hmm.

@Cairodin: there's no way to know which concept art is older. If anything, I'd say that the second elven picture is older, since it seems more similar to DA2 elves, while the first is more similar to the DAI elves we saw in the GI. 
As for the GW, the second picture you posted is REALLY old (March-April 2012). Again, there's no way to say if it's older than the others, but I'd say it is.

I'd say we have to wait for when they'll reveal the companion. They confirmed that Bethany and Carver where mutually exclusive before the release.

Thats not a sword its part of the staff, the man is holding up a yin yang like talisman not reaching for a sword and for gods sake if that is a spear, trident or whatever you want to call it, do you really think BioWare would reveal a completely new weapon skill tree for warriors or rogues in a marketing survey where they do not even mention said weapon skill tree!

About companions. 100% we don't get 3 mages because it disbalances party. 2 mages is fine. Vivienne is one of them. Dorian supposed to be the second. Therefore DLC char isn't mage.

Bethany, Anders, Merrill. Go figure.

See those speech marks? They're also called quotation marks. I'm quoting what people most
commonly call the bald Elf mage, going from what people have called him in past threads.

I'd agree with the Lady once again here:

You've got a hilt, a silver indication of a metal sword, as well as a back scabbard.
If past games are any indication, he's a dual wielding warrior, with a specialized trident.

Most people also seem to forget that the man there is wearing pretty much what the bald elf is wearing now.

It seems as if the companions are already chosen, I just hope they have really intriguing fleshed out stories.

I kinda wish Varric was never a companion because we already had him for DA2, I would've loved a new companion in his place, oh well I am sure bioware has their reasons for this.

I hope Cole's story will be continued, his story really intrigued me in the novel, I would like to help him find happiness or at least peace, It was really so sad.

@Dodok: yes, I missed the sword. It'd be nice if that picture was a reference to DW warriors in the game, but Bioware wasn't sure they'll be in DAI after the pax demo, and the concepts are way older. Plus, Dorian was supposed to be a magisters, and they are knows to use other weapons.
As for Dorian's clothes being similar to the elf, there's a character in the war room with the same Physical aspect of Dorian (human, short hair and moustache), where the elf is present too. The characters seems to be different ones.

I LOVE the hair in the first pic. Im begging BW to make him keep the hair. No offence to bald people, but usually hair on their head looks much better...

I hope there is a nice cool loveinteresert for us women gamers out there. Not anything ****ty like in ME3...
