Guns change everything, once guns exist it makes swords obsolete and pointless.

And armor. Widespread use of guns makes plate mail kind of pointless, which is why it started to disappear in armies by the late 1600s.

People don't seem to get that the armor most characters are wearing becomes pointless, once firearms become part of the setting. Everything ELSE will change. Once firearms are introduced, there will also be a lot less hand-to-hand and melee fighting, too. You don't bring daggers to a gun fight.

P.S. five threads ninja-locked at once for not being DA:I related, but this one wasn't?

Guns, their existence(at large) and implementation might require their own game for implementation, Warriors will for the most part become obsolete from the power to down a man in a single shot, and Orlais will lose the tactical advantage of Chevaliers.

That people will post about games in the wrong forum if they're bored enough.

Are we seriously debating the usefulness of armour against bullets in a universe where characters can survive meteors being dropped on their heads?

Well from a lore perspective I doubt they could survive that. :?

This is motivating me to write a song of some kind.

"Realism where we want it, no realism where we don't...
Realism where we want it, no realism where we won't..."

I'm just tired of people wanting to have their cake and eat it, too. If you want guns in DA because real world history, well, don't just handwave away the real history of their incorporation into warfare then. :innocent:

The only thing fable teaches is:

1. Do not make terrible sequels, forgetting what made the game great

2. Do not make empthy promises or trying to fool your core fan base, it wont end up good for you as a developer and name in the industry.

Point 1 above, so true!

But also to not have your game freeze 3 times in the first two hours of play, resulting in a re-boot of the Xbox (Fable Anniversary grrrr ...)

On the positive side, a proper day/night cycle would be good and having the ability to switch between magic, melee and ranged attacks. The inclusion of Zoe Wannamaker and Stephen Fry as voice actors would also be good.

BTW, they don't have to "learn" a "true" day/night cycle from Fable.

Bioware HAD one in BG2.

As I said, it was sometimes a unique pleasure of the game, watching activity in the city come to life as the sun rose, or watching merchants close up their shops, as the sun went down.

Day/night cycles are just annoying I prefer the DA2 day night maps.

Yeah, it's like perfect time travel. You can not only walk from place to place, but walk from day to night and back to day again.

I don't mind it. It's fine if they keep the same system for DA3.

That said, some statements about a day/night cycle make me think they might not be doing that.

It's only gameplay and story segregation.

Mind you, this is the same verse in which Jory died from a single stab. The warden got dropped by a single arrow. Riordan died from a 100+ metre drop. Hawke's sibling was crushed to death by an Ogre who's nearly the size of an Indian Elephant. Gascard died from a single arrow to the throat while with Petrice it's the forehead, and the Antivan Crows Tallis killed were all oneshotted with dagger slashes.

I doubt DA's humans are durable enough to shrug off a bullet from a flintlock musket that can punch holes in steel armor. (reason why plate mail became obsolete)

What they can learn from Fable?

How not to market a game with complete BS and how NOT to make a RPG.

Some people, especially vampires and others who love to sleep in, just hate dawn, I guess.

Nearly ot but, i'd love it if Bio copy pasted GTA V's day & night cycle system and graphics.

I'll always remember that sunrise as Trevor walked away from the Blaine County Rapist's bullet ridden corpse. (past victim) The memory gets to me every time. *sniffles*

I think the reactivity and fluidity of the combat would be worth considering.

They had neat quest lines that progressed though the game, maybe.
Dragon age two did that better though so nevermind.
..I dont really want to have a job or real estate in DAI even if it was fun making gold that way, skill books for your dog was cool, mixing magic in the 3rd. I cant really think of to much.

Hair dye? Collecting books? crossdressing? gargoyles? demon doors... The scars were good I thought but you dont pass out in Dragon Age you just die.

Seems like the things some people would like for bioware to learn from the fable games are things that would not necessarily improve the game experience for everyone.

Where do you draw the line with a scarring system? Does my character get a small scar over his eye for jumping in the way of a sword about to strike a companion or does he get his nose chopped off? Some will argue the first option is not good enough a consequence while other will say the 2nd is to huge a consequence and then you will have those who want no scars at all.

Some people want the weapon morphing from fable and while some will say that sounds awesome other wont like the idea of there weapon morphing. What if I don't like the end result or what if i like what it looked like at the half way morphing point and did not want it to change again?

Some people want their characters appearance to change based on play style and choices made by their character. This also sounds like an awesome idea but once again this is something that a lot of people will hate. I remember playing fable 2 and trying to make all the good choices with my character. I came to a mission where I believe a girl was about to be sacrificed and when I made the decision to save her my character eyes were turned red and his face was changed. I hated looking at him so much that I restarted that mission and sacrificed the girl.

Does anyone have anything that would just make the experience better for everyone or at least that the majority of people would like?

Only things I can think of would be armor color customization, owning businesses, and owning your own house.

Otherwise Fable 3 needs to stick out of DA verse.

Fable 2 can't comment as PC players weren't important enough to get a port.
Fable TLC was great, but its system is dated by now.

As for the gun argument, people forget that enchantment and mythical ores and other special crafting materials completely changes the metric of how effective gunpowder is.
