To cover her ass. And I hate to say it but it's the way people are in real life.

That doesn't quite fit. She fessed up to wanting a control chip but not the clone? Besides she wasn't involved in the Clone fiasco to begin with so there's nothing she needs to dodge blame for.

There are reasons why she might not want Shep to know about her involvement with producing the clone.

There are no reasons why she wouldn't know about it.

Sure it does. Have you read any Grisham novels? A lot of characters are scum sucking slime and they present themselves as "good honorable trustworthy" people.

We only saw part of the history -- when we woke up. We know virtually nothing of what went on before. I knew if they did anything to Miranda there would be rage. Well femShep got screwed big time with the LI bit for ME3: Jacob cheated and Thane died and if you chose Ashley as the VS you were only left with lesbian relationships.

There are no reasons imo why she wouldn't tell Shep.
Given the fact Cerberus is split into different cells there is certainly a reason why she might have only heard rumour of the existence of a clone.

So it's kinda like payback?

Next up, tali lies about the reapers not existing to the fleet because reasons. Also Cerberus never attacked the flotilla, or had any interaction with them, despite what the book material and game said.

Everyone gets to cover their ass and to the blame pass shuffle.

Oh come on, she had to know about the clone. What if one of Shepard's body parts didn't regenerate properly? Give me a break. She was knee deep in it. She had to be.

And regarding the "confession about the control chip;" that's a way of gaining trust for The Illusive Man, and her "honesty." Just because she's fighting on your side now doesn't mean she doesn't have any secrets buried in her past she doesn't want you to know about. Everyone has secrets.

Surely Tali going to commit necrophilia with Shep's corpse.

The comics have consistently been bad. They hand-wave inconsistencies, in the past, like with the Jack Harper comic that they don't have to be literally in line with canon.

Or for that matter, the Leliana DLC in DA:O.

It is just a story; in fiction you have certain licenses to play with the truth to maintain an interesting story.

In this case it's not bad writing, and, if the post right after the OP is an indication of everything Miranda sad, what she said can easily be explained without her lying to Shepard.

That said, it's not particularly compelling and doesn't serve to explain anything better in my mind.  Wish they could do better than lame comic-books.

Of course there are (added ethical guilt, no prior warning to Shepard, etc.), but I understand how that might intrude on player headcanon of Miranda's character. It would make zero sense, however, for the head of Lazarus to not know about the production of a clone off their subject.

That is pretty much how I feel. Her conversation in the Citadel DLC takes place (correct me if I am wrong) after Horizon is done and her sister has been saved. Not only that, this is after she finally mustered courage to admit how guilty she felt about the whole control chip thing.

So Miranda is finally able to muster up the courage to talk about that, but not able to even admit she knew about the clone even though it is nowhere as big as a deal for her?

Given the fact Cerberus is split into different cells there is certainly
a reason why she might have only heard rumour of the existence of a
clone.

That is also what I just assumed, that for whatever reason, the clone project was done by another cell that ran parallel with Lazarus.

Looks like the next issue after Mordin is Kasumi (#10).

Interesting choice. Wouldn't have guessed that.

These characters aren't from a Grisham novel though, Miranda never denies her shady actions, she doesn't need to tell you about the chip you know nothing about it.

There is if you remember how Cerberus was set up to operate, different teams aren't supposed to know what the others are doing.

The way Cerberus was set up was that operatives wouldn't even know who operatives were unless they were assigned to work with them, let alone know what the other cells were doing.

Kinda retarded if you ask me but then again it was set up so one individual could control everyone else, so meh.

The clone can be hand-waved because it was a "failed" project. Miranda might not know of its existence, after it failed, and she has no reason to bring it up after that. There's no motivation for her to bring it up, unless that she had known the clone was alive and well and working to kill him, eventually.

Why delete? :D

The Clone is similar to my ME1 Shepard. That's the funny thing. He's closer to my experience with the series than ME3 is.

TIM has repeatedly been extremely secretive. It makes complete sense for him to be hedging his bets and working in parrallel with an alternate scheme in case project Lazarus fails. There's zero need for her to be directly implicated in it. If they'd wanted her directly implicated in plot they had the perfect opportunity to have her admit her full knowledge of it in the citadel dlc. Really having Walters coming back and retconning in this ***** comic is the height of scumminess.

Okay, i see that as just a simple plot hole, i highly doubt it was an intentional choice to show that Miranda was actually lying in Citadel. It narratively makes minus infinit sense for that to happen.
But if it was intenional, then my god.......

And the resources needed to clone Shepard just slipped under the nose of TIM's second-in-command and the head of the resurrection project using the body? Please.
