Subjective, of  course. (At least formally.)

Ballpoint pen.

Why do people use the miserable sh...?
The wrong paper, (for instance most postit) and it stops writing, and you have to 'restart' it by jotting on a more suitable paper. Too hard support under, and it stops writing. Too soft support under, and it stops writing. Too coarse support, and it stops writing. Too smooth support, and it stops writing. Happen to store it upside down, and it stops working, sort of permanently. And you have to press hard, so you tire your hand and press indented lines in the paper and even underlying sheets.

Compare that to the preceding fountain pen. A perfect writing instrument.

Electric razor.

Expensive. Noisy, Unclean. Nuke your face forever and it's still not a perfect shave.
Why? For Chr'sakes, why, why?

Compare that to the preceding Gillette safety razor. A perfect shaving tool.

I reject your conclusion. The fountain pen is bulkier, more expensive, needs refills, and can be prone to the ink smudging. Hardly the 'perfect' writing instrument. Although to be fair, I love them as well.

Again, I reject your conclusion.

I use both (sometimes I go for a few days without shaving and use the safety razor to shave the longer stubble or I use the safety razor sometimes to shave while showering). But the overall cost of the electric razor is actually cheaper (initial outlay is expensive, but the life of the device soon overtakes the cost as you don't need to constantly buy razor blades), the noise is hardly excessive, and it's no more unlcean than a safety razor if one takes care of it as one should.

I love fountain pens. They are better for writing beautifully as compared to ballpoints. But in terms of consistency, ease of use and reliability, ball points win hands down.

I shave with it and end up with a clean face, most of the time. The irritation only lasts for a few hours.

No they don't. Quite the total opposite. If you use your fountain pen regularly, it wins hands down, at all points.

I've used fountain pens exclusively, most of my life. For everything. Nonexpensive pens. Like the old Parker Vector. About one and a half month ago I wore out my last Vector at work, and then tried to get by with the office stationaries as provided by my employer. I went through about six or seven ballpoint pens and they drove me nuts (and in fact motivated this thread). Consistent? Reliable?  Nono no, that's fountain pens you're talking about. A fountain pen always works. And always works perfectly. I've never had any problems with "ink smudging". Never. Never considered refilling a drawback. As for bulky, they're available in all the same styles as ballpoints. As for expensive, yes, but it's a function of size of market. But I'd rather have a fountain pen for 30 years, than a gazillion Bic.

Now I've taken a couple of more expensive pens to work. As a stopgap solution. I've ordered some I.M.'s, that I hope will work as replacement for my Vectors.

Solar panels and wind turbines.

They produce hardly ANY energy and are practically useless for 99.9% of applications, but the hippies are obsessed with them.

The colorless colored pencil.

Sounds like a useless thing right?

Wrong, those things are beautiful. Put a few layers of a color, and layer a colorless over that and the color just pops so much better

The sword.

Every other weapon until then was a multi-purpose tool useful for domestic purposes. Knifes for cutting, axes for hacking, bow and spear for hunting.

But the sword, it's sole purpose is to function as a weapon. It's not geared for cutting prey, not suitable for hacking wood and useless for hunting. The only thing it's good for is killing people in violence.

Whoever invented the sword must have been a sick bastard. Silly, useless and its invention denotes the depravity of humanity.

I beg to disagree.
You ever cut a Watermelon in half with a Broadsword?
WAY more effective than a knife

And besides, Swords are way more useful than say the Morningstar or a Halberd...hell a sword has more purpose than most Polearms do.

I think you swapped "effective" with "excessive". Sure you can, you can also warm your pizza from the other day by initiating a several megaton TNT equivalent fusion explosive device a carefully calculated distance away.

But it is the intent of that invention that I mean, it was never designed for anything else but to kill people. Not animals for hunt even though you can of course try hunting with it to various degrees of success, but the soul of that invention is war.

It's what invented weapons, rather than being a tool you can weaponize. Morning Stars, halberds, etc. are only a logical step in optimizing weapons, but the sword is the original weapon.

Keep in mind, by Morning Star, I mean the flail version.

Not really optimising anything considering you're more at risk of hitting yourself then your opponent.

Actually it's a great weapon if you know how to use. Because opponent can't attack you while you're swinging that thing and you'll confuse opponent on wen exactly you'll strike.

However it's a very tiring to use and not advised to use without plate armor.

But I will agree, there is a useless sword that was made Neo.
The German Zweihander.

Too big and too heavy to be of any actual use.
And it's main use was to take out Pike formations, which could be taken out by far more efficient means.
Single handedly the worst Greatsword ever invented.

Apparently.

Note to self, do not engage in too esoteric arguments next time. People wont understand it anyway.

Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox Kinect and Xbox One. A little from Column A (silly), and a little from Column B (useless)... well, actually, a lot from Column A, and a little from Column B.
