The French
You must be one of those Australians whom wanna be Americans (uniquely an Australian version of a try-hard), to not like the French. Truthfully, Americans scorn the British/English, but believe what they believe.
Maybe you'll grow up one day, but history suggests you won't.

Orian, it's the BSN, jokes are made in bad taste all the time. I don't think he/she actually hates the French ^.^

But I will agree, there is a useless sword that was made Neo.
The German Zweihander.
Too big and too heavy to be of any actual use.
And it's main use was to take out Pike formations, which could be taken out by far more efficient means.
Single handedly the worst Greatsword ever invented.
Oddly enough, I've seen nothing but good things from it in video games. Namely Dark Souls.

It's come a long way today. Mainly thanks to Microsoft (always maintaining backwards compatibility, DPMI, 32-bit extensions, preemptive multitasking, directX), Apple (Windows, mouse, cooperative multitasking, rasterizer device), DEC (Pentium technology) and AMD (64-bit extensions, Conroe/Core 2 technology = Athlon XP design concept, Nehalem/Core i technology = Athlon 64 design concept).
But when IBM set out to create it, they made a real mess of it. The reason the ****ty, obsolete-at-birth PC triumphed, was the huge mindshare that IBM had. Plus the fact that people didn't knew anything about computers. Plus the fact that it was so ridiculously, crudely primitive and simple, that it could easily be duplicated in function, without transgressing any copyrights or patents. Plus the fact that IBM were stupid enough to purchase an OS from an outside source (Microsoft) despite being refused exclusive rights. Plus the fact that IBM were stupid enough to purchase the miserable processor from an outside source (Intel), despite being refused exclusive rights.
The "IBM-compatible PC". Which people reacted to with "Oh great, I get a real IBM computer, but don't have to pay for the IBM-logo".

Sadly/funnily all those great armors and weapons of 15th century that were made of the finest steel were obsolete by Gunpowder. Gunpowder just made war lamer (until bullets was made in 19th century).
Those LongSwords, Halberds, Plate armors etc. were awesome. Even those latest crossbows were technologically more interesting than those early guns. Dammit.
