I should mention that almost every reference to the elven atrocities at Red Crossing is made with the qualifier that they were unconfirmed rumors or stories. For example, the WoT timeline is careful to say "the atrocities they were said to commit." The only exception is Sister Petrine's rather slanted codex entry on the City Elves that DA 2 and Non Elf Warden's get.

I think it's very likely that, while the attack definitely happened, the human sacrifice and such was likely either fabricated or greatly exaggerated.

Anders isn't the only person who condemns the Chantry controlled Circle as slavery; even the pro-mage Champion of Kirkwall can condemn it as such.

It's refreshing that BioWare even allows the player to be wrong.

Isn't it?

The PC is usually magically correct in all things.

Bioware strays from that common element.

DA2 is unusual in that kind, is that no matter what side the PC is on the wrong, and is driven by circumstances and currents of the world instead of shaping it. Was very refreshing for me.

Oolah! And multiple people believe the Elves practice human sacrifice. Who would have thought more than one person could fall for a hyperbolic falsehood?

As for the elves, it wasn't up for debate that the People followed the Creators; it's one of the reasons the Dalish said the Andrastian humans turned cold towards their ancestors in the Dales.

So rumors can have some basis in reality, however distorted. Agreed.

O_O Pro Elf Nonsense in a thread with Lob in it?

Who figured this would happen?

Is lobsel still trying to use whatever the PC says as a fact? Because there is no chance at all that's it's just an opinion that the player can use to express their views.  <_<

That's BS, the term slavery implies that the subject is treated as property and forced to work. Mages don't work for anyone else and aren't buyable property. The Circle is at most a necessary prison. A golden cage if you will.

So half the player base will fawn over them while the other half tries to kill them?

It certainly would be cool to see an all encompassing Noble House in Thedas that has more money then the Dwarven Banks, a Larger Private army then most Nations and wines and dines with various Monarchies.

The Lannisters would not do too well in Thedas, I'm afraid.

Just make sure they avoid dwarves with crossbows.

They shall, of course, be treated with all the respect foreign dignitaries warrant. Crossbows will be confiscated.

Hey, enough with the oblique spoilers for Bloodlines of Conquest. We're talking about Mages and Templars or being distracted by a Dalish tangent.

I mean, I haven't read all of the novels yet, but given how the Lannisters betrayed the Taegryans (or however you spell their name), the only reason they're still a noble house at all (and, you know, alive) is because Edward & Robert were playing !PureParagon for that playthrough.
