Sir JK might like her as a well-written character, not necessarily for her ideas and actions.Petrice...you liked Petrice?

I always wanted to side with Petrice to see how it plays out, but always ended up respecting Arishok too much to actually do it

Yes I do. As a character. Definantely not as a person. She's a lying snake, manipulative as all tomorrow (but not nearly as good at it as she thinks) and generally quite horrible. That she's also strictly a social person is also a plus in my book, one of few villains that don't fight at all.
So in that sense i like her. But she's quite horrible as a person, which shows how well executed she is as a character.

Touche. Fair point. I guess she is a good character in that sense. I must say that I have never felt such unholy rage towards a character before in a video game.

Does she top a certain character in a certain DA bookTouche. Fair point. I guess she is a good character in that sense. I must say that I have never felt such unholy rage towards a character before in a video game.
Seriously though, i agree with Sir JK. Great character, horrible person.

The big L-man? Hell yes, she beats him by miles.
Edit: Scratch that, I know the woman to whom you are referring....and they are pretty neck and neck.

I once thought Petrice could be a useful if distasteful ally for dealing with the qunari, but then I decided that her methods did too much harm and were counterproductive to the well-being of Kirkwall (though killing the Arishok may have long-term helpful ramifications).

Plus, she's a little batsh*t crazy, and killed an innocent kid to try and provoke conflict.

Don't know about that. He was replaced pretty easily.

The true horror of Petrice is that she's perfectly sane and did it anyways.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Even on the templar side, Meredith's insanity earns some sympathy points, as she was clearly cracked by what happened to her sister.
Those are the ones being referred to in the context of the Annulment. Although it's an inexcusable atrocity to side with the templars in any case.
Actually I was referring to all the demon summoning blood mages you encounter outside of the circle fighting apostates.

I guess it depends on what one defines as "sane".

Man, I'm not exactly a fan of the Qun, but she deserved completely one of their arrows in the head.

Although, something struck me as odd that whole scene. After she's shot in the head, Elthina simply keeps walking and doesn't seem surprised at all.
Hawke and company are obviously surprised it happened when it happened, but Elthina didn't.

Did I find Petrice to be a well done character? Yes. Did I find her sympathetic? No, midevil neonazis don't appeal to me.
Meredith was sympathetic yes.
All the abusive mustache twerling "I am templar so I am abussively evil and it is tolerated for no reason hahaha" no I didn't find at all sympathetic.
I want to find Orsino sympathetic, but I cannot. Much trouble could have been avoided if he had cooperated instead of hidden blood mages in his ranks. That would have made hiim far more sympathetic. And before you say meredith would have killed everyone, Elthina wouldn't have let her.
Actually I have to add one more redeeming character, I actually really like the Arishok once I got beyond my dissappointment of not being able to try become a Qunari, but I did usally play where he left alive and respecting me. All it cost me was that lying harlot....Cheap price personally.

That scene made me think Elthina might have been expecting some consequence to befall Petrice in recompense for her actions.

Elthina is a fatalist though, she believes in active Divine intervention. You reap what you sow is exactly what she'd say and Petrice had it coming...

Meredith would have gone over Elthina's head, as she aimed to do anyway.

I think Elthina was in on it and set Petrice up to take the fall, with Petrice expecting Elthina to back her up.

But Elthina would only know of those consequences and actions IF she knew that Petrice was using her seal to provoke conflict.
