If the only way to save Thedas from demons is genocide it's not worth it ... let the demons take over, maybe they'll manage better.

Why? i doubt that you would talk that way if mages were real and danger was real as well

Especially since the more you genocide, the easier it is for the demons to cross over.

considering that thedas have rather bloody history and same blights took much more victims and spare for using magic and disasters caused by mages few thousands of mages won't mage big difference no it will even decrease torn veil in future spare for demons that will visit thedas by demonic possession or being summoned by mage and that both ways are most common used by demons...

That joke isn't even vaguely amusing.

I misread what he was implying. I thought that was too the "Only way to stop the demons was to kill everybody" thing.

What? Don't the demons get a say? Do they not hurt if you punch them? Do they not bleed if you cut them?

When are the denizens of Thedas going to stop being so selfish?

Do they comprehend what the denizens of Thedas would infer as pain?

Most of the Lore supports the great majority of them have only animal level cognition at best. The Few exceptions are higher upon the tier but the point remains, even they are subject to only a singular aspect of focus. I'd say limited as they are, they don't qualify for sentience.

To the point though; Any Demon ruled Thedas wouldn't be anything remotely better then even the current situation.

Hence why i said it wasn't funny.

-_- Kami doesn't comprehend the humor in unleashing demons upon his creation.

And the templars were gearing up to fight her. They almost certainly tried to have her assassinated at one point, and Lambert was able to force her to deny many necessary concessions to the mages; she was wholly unable to shut down Lambert, despite him being her nominal subordinate. He had the same power encroachment issues as Meredith and much less insanity to get in the way. There's no realistic way peace could have been achieved at this time; sometimes there's no way to avoid bloodshed and it's best to just get it out of the way as soon as possible.

Maybe the Templars would have fought her.  But then the Justina could call an Exalted March down on their behinds for opposing their  Divine.  She'd be totally in the right.  Heck, many Templars might have stayed in opposition to Lambert going all heretic on them.

But now the Templars broke away after the mages did.  The Divine's is seen as even weaker and the Templars look more like White Knights, "saving" Thedas from the eeeeevil mages because the Divine can't.

Nice going, Adrian.  There's no way to avoid bloodshed if you're determined to pick a fight.

To be honest, I hardly see how they're much better than the demons they so fear. Do they not embody the very virtues of mortal psychology? But I digress.

It wouldn't be open combat, they'd just kill her.. Probably with Crows; after all, when the templars are your guards, getting one inside wouldn't be exactly difficult.

And I think the Red Templars will help us a lot on the reputation front.

Funny how political stances can often shift from ideological ones eh?

The banner of the templars has always been to safeguard mankind from magic.

Now they are just doing it in a more direct fashion.

In a defensive war? Especially since the templars are no longer affiliated with the Chantry.

Except it's not a defensive war, exactly.  Adrian baited them into striking first.

Considering they are a minor fraction of the order that likely has been labeled a rogue faction?

Not overly, It would be like blaming the dwarven nobility for the Carta assassin's on the surface.

Agreed.

I'm of the opinion that if compromise were impossible that mages should win politically as well as on the battlefield. One without the other wouldn't really work in the long term.

Yes, and what will those folks think when they see what appears to be an abomination fighting along side red templars to overturn a town in a lyrium or mage raid?

What will they think when the red templars' minds degenerate until they attack indiscriminately on the pretense that everything and everyone is a mage?

Speculation aside.

In none of the gameplay videos nor images have i ever seen a red templar fighting alongside an abomination.

I mean i think even a lyrium addled templar can put one plus one together.

Abomination = enemy.

I think the red templars upgraded their enemy list from mage to anyone, or at least Inquisiton-supported people.

Well their first thought (assuming that we will have such situation) will be probably "damn mages what they did to templars burn them"

And as i said red templars are red templars , normal templars aren't red templars so making templars or red templars look bad doesn't make mages look good only templars bad.

As far normal templars are heroes for public mages villains sooner red templars will be put to one bag with mages than other templars

They'll more than likely be confused. They will not know who to trust. The templars' vice like grip on their white hats will begin to slip.

I'm not saying that every citizen of Thedas will instantly think that all templars are evil. I am saying that the very presence of red templars will breed distrust and uncertainty. Which is exactly what the mages need if either side refuses to compromise.

That's probably true. But it won't really matter when it's wearing a templar helmet and a templar skirt.

And you think distrust and uncertainty of a minority faction can bleed into an order with a sterling reputation for maintaining the bulwark against magic for a thousand years?

Has connection to nobility in at least three nations.

I think its a vain hope personally.

No way mages are blamed for thing that they didn't do so blame sooner will go to them than to templars. If you heard rumors in ferelden folks think that mages are allies with darkspawn and they should be killed well good luck... now we have miliatry force major religion in thedas seen as heroes.

You mean the same religious order that left their religion so would actually be seen as heretics?
