Those Harboring Blood mages and apostates aren't guilty?
Mettin may have been zealous but he wasn't wrong in doing his duty.
Of a crime worthy of being punishable by death? No.

By our modern standards no. But then again, in Thedas it is fully acceptable to execute a man who stole a bag of grain from the crown.
Some families harbored their loved ones because of the way they were being treated at the Circle. So, maybe by law they were guilty, but completely justified. One just gave her sister a meal and then sent her on her way. She should be killed for that?
You have your justice and i have mine.

So, I'll just take that as a yes.

Do they state that family members sheltering apostates are worthy of the death penalty. Then why are the Hawkes still alive after Cullen takes Bethany? Hawke had no pull at that point.

Those seeking to undermine the efforts at containing the threat of magic are doing something that can brook no temperance nor mercy.
Death is the only suitable punishment, People like that must be killed else they will merely become a problem later.

Cullen stated pointedly in that scenario that had Bethany not voluntarily came to the circle that situation would have been entirely different.

Yeah, but he never said they'd be killed. There's punishments besides death, you know.
Regardless, I'd like this question answered: Where does it say that those who harbor mages are deserving of the death penalty?

The removal of the fingertips? The losing of a hand? Flogging? What medieval punishment standard are we going by here?

I think that the punishment for criminals are pretty much open to interpretation on the individual basis. Mettin wasn't breaking the law when he wanted the families dead, and Agatha wasn't breaking the law by letting them live either.

In the very quest that prompted this discussion by Ser Mettin.

I don't trust Ser Mettin's word. I want an actual source not from a zealot.

That could be.
Ah well, Mettin's extreme ways only led to him rotting in some random cave in Sundermount.

I disliked killing Agatha but her decision to stand by the surviving guilty persons left her to her fate.
Always a shame when a Templar has to die.
She reminded me of a dear childhood friend.

^that. It most likely also means that if you're of common-birth you could have your household put to death, while a nobles will at most get away with a "That's bad. Please don't do that."

That's most likely why the actions of Emile De Launcet and his Mother aiding him didn't result in far more severe repercussions.
They were wealthy and minor Orlaisian Nobility.

Idk if DA:I is for you then because lots of Templars are going to die.

The Order will rebuild.
it will raise it self atop the bones of the fallen and be greater then it ever was before.

You do realize the Templar Order is thousands upon thousands strong and is a institution through out Thedas, Yes?
I can't see them being overly harmed during the events of the war.
Defeat them in a single position and they still have a half dozen nations they are located within.

Not a single Templar is going to die by hand if I can help it. Lots of RED Templars probably, but not a single real one.

The war, maybe not. This on the other hand:

This I see causing them a lot of problems.
