@Emissary you meant to say c h i n k s in the armor, right?

Yeah, that's pretty overkill on the political correctness.

@Elder King.  Yep.  Dropping it now. ;)

Fair enough. Though its in the best interests of most if not all parties to pool together to take out what appears to be the most threatening bully on the playground. Hoping the veil tear plays a part in showing us the ****** in their armor. They must be neutralized.

Edit: Have we really reached that point in censorship for a word that has multiple connotations?

Sadly, i don't see it happening any time soon. First of all, with all the cataclysms and wars, happening in Thedas - civil war in Orlais and semi-global Mage-Templar war, which was praised by many mage supporters, mind you. Secondly, even if driven back, the weakened southern Thedas would be forced to face a new-old threat in the face of recovering Tevinter, again armed with advanced technologies, now in the form of unrestricted blood magic, empowered by slaves sacrifices. Would they be willing to do the same to even the scales?

I'm not sure which is worse.

On the flip side, I'm betting some of the Templars have wanted this war for years as well.  Both sides have just been boiling pots for many moons now.  I'm sure that many are relieved that it's all in the open, finally.

Personally, I think both sides are being fairly moronic, but that's just me.

Some, maybe, but not majority for sure. Why would they, if they were the ones, holding the leash?

Yes, indeed, quite a mess on our hands. If pooling together will not work. Playing one side against the other will have to suffice. I am hoping IN will allow time for such opportunities, though it will more than likely have us be the 'peacemakers' of the conflict and have us unite factions against the veil tear.

It is simply bad timing with the tear and all.

The mages aren't being moronic so far as to want their freedom, their rebellion is probably the smartest thing that they've done. It is simply sad that it took Kirkwall to drive home the fact that the Chantry and its Templars can and will murder the lot of them regardless of guilt, possession, ill intent, misbehavior or what have you.

Looking at your signature - Orsino was claimed to be the youngest First Enchanter, then what age is Vivienne? And some want her as LI. Eerie.

PS. Random thought.

Some see the Qunari as the greatest threat, some see them as the only hope. Funny how ideology works.

Some wouldn't have a problem with the Qunari if they minded their own business. But they insist on expanding and conquering. Funny how that works.

That is how nations work. If you think otherwise then you are fooling yourself.

Fair enough, but it ultimately changes nothing. The Qunari plan to force their hivemind mentality onto everyone in Thedas; they can be 'educated' or turned into mindless laborers. Not to mention that they treat their mages reprehensibly worse. Definitely wary of those who would see such a society as their 'greatest hope'.

You say that, but to the underclass (city elves, casteless, poor human peasants), being assigned a role based on your ability (or what your ability is perceived to be) instead of being left to squander, with upward mobility, is a fantastic deal.

You think? Think again.

Why do you assume others want your freedom in the first place? I don't want drugs on my streets, i don't want prostitution in my city. Keep your freedom to yourself, that's why i called "greater good" a weighted term among other reasons.

You're quite full of yourself, aren't you?

They're not your streets, and some of the people with whom you share them might be keen on chemical happy times. It's not your city, and some of the folks with whom you share it might want to transact in negotiable affection. Why should what you want other people to do or not do be more valid than what those people want for themselves? Is it simple mob rule?

The "greater good" is a less weighted term than simply "good" is. Your idea of "good" might differ a lot from Lulu's, but moving toward the "greater good" pretty unequivocally means, among other things, that both you and Lulu get to live your own lives is closer accord with your own individual standards of "good."

For some, no doubt. But it would not be for some. It would be for every last single person in Thedas that they could get their claws on. As I said, wouldn't have a problem with the Qunari if they minded their own affairs, took their volunteer converts and went on their way. They do not and they will not. Those that would leave and are caught are to be 'reeducated', or the ones that get away become bandits and theives. Hardly a blanket fantastic deal.

It is in many ways a metaphor for the Bolshevik revolution. I'm just waiting to see how in Qunari society, like in Animal Farm, some animals are more equal than others. The Arishok in DA2 was apparently a true believer, but I think it is inevitable that in any system that vests authority in individuals, some of those individuals will exercise that authority more for their own benefit than for the benefit of the collective. Somewhere there is a corrupt Qunari waiting for his or her plot element.

But they would have a hard time pushing their agenda because of the Arishok. Someone like Sten would definitly kill them, and he would be right to do so.

..should be stickied.  It keeps the fighting between the two groups in one spot.  Trust me, it's a welcome thing in the Story forums rather than this debate spreading around everywhere.

I would just like to say I am disappointed I missed out on some of these side discussions. I'm afraid I was busy dreaming about being a Jedi, so you all had to wait.

My opinion is that both sides are stupid and act like over grown children by starting a war
