War is never fun unless it's a strategy game. Up close, it just looks like a bunch of crazy people.

I would just like to say I am disappointed I missed out on some of these side discussions. I'm afraid I was busy dreaming about being a Jedi, so you all had to wait.

I was dreaming about boys, but yeah same for me

Funny that a guy named Ares would be a "middle ground" voice here ;)

Mostly though it's an excuse for old fat guys to profit off of $640 toilet seats.

MassEffect proves you wrong. They have an considereable amount of experience, when it comes to replacing characters because of different outcomes of the story.

Rachni Queen - Rachni Abomination

Mordin Solus - Padok Wilks

Female Krogan lives - Female Krogan dies

Urdnot Wrex - Urdnot Wreav

Ashley - Kaidan

etc.

Dragon Age Origins proves you wrong as well:

Elves - Werewolves

Mages - Templars

Bhelen - Harrowmont

Alistair - Loghain

None of those choices are anywhere near the scope as basic in game class presentation.

These are faction and character options that may or may not get a line of dialogue and a quest appearance in sequels.

I'd not say either of those series "proving" me wrong of anything.

Why? The circle quest is just a minor part of Dragon Age Origins. DA 4, Da 5, etc. could be about Qunari, the next Blight, the Architect, the Grey Wardens, war between orlais and ferelden, war between orlais and nevarra. There is absolutely no reason why the abscence of templars or mages should have a major impact on future storylines.

Edit:

Most people would like this struggle to end, at least if their faction is able to win the war. And this continued fight about mages and templars is most tiresome.

That's the case with DAO, but things changed with Hawke and Asunder, I think.

Not to say the next game is about a Templar/Mage war specifically though. To be honest, I think the Veil thing will be such a threat that it'd be retarded for people not to get along for once. Much like Mass Effect's Reapers.

It's more that drastically changing a major foundation of the setting also prevents you from relying on that basis again, and the Templars and Chantry are international in scope. Unlike in DAO, which just pushed a general region out of future games for the foreseeable future, the Circle system isn't so easy to ignore. It's a pretty important part of the social fabric everywhere else in Thedas bar a few small exceptions.

Because if you think about it, anything beyond a middle ground solution will have far reaching actions.

Free unregulated Mages? Do you think that could appear in a world state while at the same time you have Mages within a circle? Or hordes of possessed mages running about the countryside?

This issue is less about factions then it is notions and idea's and those ideas will be present in the future sequels of the game, its just that simple.

Its why Bioware won't make entirely alien, inescapable decisions for the same of redundancy for the sequels. It just impacts on how Mage PC's and their kind are treated on several levels, not mentioning if the war was even won or not.

Excactly, Da 2 failed, so why should every decision be centered about its plotline? We started out as wardens, now we´re the inquisition, why bother with the mage templar war anymore?

Because it's a part of the current story arc and will be present whether you like it or not?

One can only hope they've written the veil storyline appropriately. Don't think a lot of people want to be stuck holding hands for 50 hours.

DA2 was cool, if you ask me. That's why I'm playing DAI. I'm not waiting for DAI because I hated the last game. I don't get this idea.

On the flipside, I hate ME3. You won't see me caring me about the next game.

That´s excactly my point. Most people in thedas are andrastians like most people in the real world are christians. We don´t miss witch hunts, inquisitions, etc., we believe in a god, that´s it. So why should people in thedas miss the templars?

Of course it could happen. Take Orzammer for example. There is a huge difference between choosing Bhelen or Harrowmont, but the dwarfs are up and runnig either way.
