If the mages obey the circle and chantry law, there really wouldn't any issues would there?

It's just difficult to argue shades of gray with beings who don't have the construct of emotions in the anyway.

Its a question of concern about the degree of free will a tranquil actually has and how easily swayed they are.

I also would have concerns about potential literalness of orders by a tranquil.

Wouldn't want a kill all abominations order to result in the deaths of chantry sanctioned spirit healers.  I am assuming the chantry sanctions them anyway, with Rhys's comments about the Chantry sanctioning using spirits for healing.

Hopefully so. I was intrigued with my evil Templar playthrough of DA II, felt as if my fem-Hawke Warrior Templar was Lord Vader.

Though if it is, I want another solution in place for the mages to invoke.

What about the fix to actually bring Tranquil mages back to normal?

I wonder if we'll be seeing a lot of that.

Wait, Z, aren't we supposed to be debating about robes and skirts now?   :P

 I suppose we should return to topic.

Still i like casual conversation upon occasion.

If everyone obeyed the laws, there wouldn't be problems.  Seekers getting rid of people like Alrik for instance.

The problem I see, is that the Templars are recruiting people of bad character.

Aye, me too.  It's nice to remind ourselves that despite our passion and some IC on the forums, we're all just a bunch of RPG nerds that love the games we play.  Sometimes the division among gamers is sad and tiring to me.  We're all gamers, we all love playing with pixels.  I'm a dreamer; I wish we could all just remember that.  It shouldn't matter if it's a RPG, FPS or even a facebook puzzle game, we should all celebrate the fact that we can play video games together.

Thats a bit simplistic. It is more that the hardliners are in charge and that is who is promoted and those who don't agree with them are ostracized.

Because of the Veil tear, I expect many tranquil will suddenly become mages again.

They will likely be either the least OR most violent, depending on how the experience affected each individual.

Ok WZ and Nat if you too don't cut out this civil idiocy I am gonna accuse one of you of being under the thrall of a blood mage.

We have to start from the base and then branch out from there.

It isn't quite that simple.  There was a whole process involved in it. But we shall see.

I wonder if that will happen? I don't know if we ever saw Tranquils around an area where the veil was very thin to begin with and how that affected them, but I can't remember what exactly the Tranquil fix consisted of so who knows. It'd be cool though. I imagine after they stopped crying they'd be pretty angry.

I was actually gonna start at the top down.  You get the right people in charge and the others will fall in line or be dealt with.

I do admit there are some things that we would need to be aware of before such a plan was implemented i agree.

And i'm pretty sure they can comprehend orders fairly well considering they are assigned some fairly complicated tasks.

But its just a notion i gave some scant amount of thought to, to be honest, i'd like the idea of improving Templar efficiency and combat capability but its just difficult to assure such a thing when ultimately are dealing with normal men and women in suit mail ultimately with some magic countering abilities. I viewed tranquility as a possible outlet, i also considered importing a few foreign trained mercenaries to mix up the mashup of their combat capabilities, Reavers and etc.

Its difficult to create competent warriors who can combat mages evenly with out Lyrium like me tell you that much.

If I recall correctly, a spirit has to try and possess a tranquil for it to be reversed.  The veil tear might make it easier to reverse, but i don't think it'll instantly make it occur.

There were 2 tranquils in the tower in DAO during Uldred's madness.

You know, I could actually support this.  Let the Templars experience what it's like to have their comrade become an emotionless killing machine that's a puppet for any senior ranking Templar.  If it's good enough for "bad" mages, then it's good enough for Templars that abuse their power and abuse their charges.

While its interesting, i'm not sure how it'd interact with their lyrium-infused abilities on a technical level. Wouldn't it be a possibility, that they lose it the same way the mages lose their magic, being severed from the Fade?

So more than likely, the tear will do nothing to them.

Maybe.

I was more thinking of giving the Chantry what it wants so badly. Give them Tevinter. Become the monster and devour them.

I dislike the notion of the division just because of gamer politics, i'd like people to remember that we are all here as you said because we love the games that this company provides.

Just because i carry a Templar shield doesn't mean i don't enjoy Dragon Age as much as a player who promotes mage freedom.

Templar abilities come from lyrium and is not drawn from the fade like a mage.  So, I would assume it wouldn't affect it.

Yeah but pharamond says it was a complex process and I think he even used lyrium.
