It's so sad that Chantry has such a big influence. Even Tevinter has a chantry, granted it's a little different, but they still actually officially banned blood magic and have the circle system.

Agreed. It's just so unfortunate.

I look forward to changing that drastically in DA: I

Don't get me wrong, I want that too.  However, I don't expect us to be able to do a lot in that regard, so I'd be cautious about getting your hopes up.

Unfortunate but true.

I expect the Chantry will be around for a long time. It's too embedded in the fabric of society at this point.

Magisters do indeed practice blood magic. It's like weed, it's illegal but everybody does it.
They could achieve so much more all the mages if they cooperated more nad fought among each other less.

Possibly, but why would they? A lot of humans don't care about cooperating for greater achievements, but on mantaining/increasing their personal powers and privileges. The magisters don't want to lose their position or their privileges.
Many believe that the Tevinter magocracy means that all mages enjoy the same rights, freedom and possibilities. That's not true. While they're treated better than in the White Chantry countries, most are still under control of someone. Just mages and not mundanes.

Yeah, that "ban" on blood magic strikes me as pure lip-service.  I guess even the Black Divine has their standards, albeit not many.

Asunder can clear somehow this for you (I remember you haven't read yet?).

I doubt you'd have that much power. Unless the Chantry is canonically (meaning we have no choice on ten matter) weakened in the regard.

Yep, you'd have a better chance of weeding out the corruption in them than getting rid of them

@Elder: Nope, my older dog ended up with a bad hotspot and had to go to the vet.  She's on the mend, but it was a pricey thing to hit us for the end of the month.  She's on a couple of different types of meds and still in a cone, but doing alright.  We also had to do a check up visit.  The vet isn't too expensive, but it was a bit much on top of all the other end-of-the-month expenses.  I'm angling to get that and WoT this weekend.

Hey, I'd take that as a fine place to go for Inquisition. :)

I'm aware, but a man can dream. The Chantry simply must get some sort of comeuppance even if it's not from the protagonist. If not this game, hopefully the next.

To be fair, wouldn't you say that a 1000 yr old system splitting and splintering all over the place is a start with the comeuppance?

Mages would regret destroying the chantry if it ended up making it easier for the Qunari to conquer & take control. Being unable to leave a circle wouldn't seem as terrible then compared to how Qunari treat their mages.

Glad to know your dog is all right :).

The Chantry is in a sort of crysis right now though. Caused by the falling of the Circle system.

That hindsight would serve them well i think.

The Chantry is a necessary evil for some people, like the poor and homeless.

Mages so far haven't show any signs of desire to destroy the Chantry. Pro-mages on the forum had, but that's a completely different issue.
Mages should be morons to try to destroy the Chantry. It'd be a good move to lead the various countries against them.

And if you do that then The Chantry becomes what it's suppose to be or originally was

Not at all.

They lived their lives, spread their biases and kept their boots on the throats of mages for those thousand years.

I want nothing less than them being stripped of all power. Let them chant their Maker nonesense and accept tithes and talk badly about the heathens. But when it comes to authority over mages and the circle? They will have none. I want to make them into the sweet little old church down the street. Not the Roman Catholic Church of old.

And it would serve the Chantry well to remember that about the mages as well.  We have to work together, as I've been saying for months now.  The Qunari doesn't give a crap about mage or Templar; there's Saarbas and just Bas.

Tough Cookies

Ain't going to happen. (Too wide spread, too wealthy and politically connected)

Although they may have been a less authority now with out the Templars in their corner.

Kami shall stand against them and with an Almighty push send their armada to the bottom of the cold sea -_-

And then promptly request worship for said awesomeness.

I fully expect DAI to not end the mage/templar war, and then a Qunari invasion for force against the two sides to stop fighting. It'd ****** off a lot of people though.

Well they still have the forces for the Exalted Marches, unless those are Templars too :P

That remains to be seen.

It may or may not happen.

It is most certaintly possible and will more than likely be allowed to happen sooner or later.

If not directly, indirectly. There will be a way to hurt them.
