That's what the mage-templar conflict needs. An unseen arbiter who wills it to end. That shall be me. You're welcome.  :)

Isn't there already one that started it? The one who has a bunch of agents working for them?

And you're not God.

Indeed, I be God.  :D

Let's get this thread back on track.

May the templars never achieve their goal of mage incarceration.

They have no names or faces known to the public, or at least not as their actual social status.

Mages deserve a second chance.

When was the first one, and what chance is this?

But... but... if mages are free and can study and learn without supervision and watched, then they will start practicing blight magic, like what First Enchanter Remille could do in The Calling.

Because there will be a group of mages that find Remille's journal or something, then the inevitable debate with the Grey Wardens on what they should do about non Wardens using blight magic, etc....

And then, if mages can get power from blood, like a huge dose of it like they can get from lyrium, can't a templar also learn how to draw that property that lyrium and blood shares? Then there would be vampire reaver/templars running about.

And then the dwarves will make lyrium golems because they get bored with all the extra lyrium they will have because it is cheaper to use blood then buy lyrium.

Then the lyrium golems will gain independence because they will learn from the spirits or demons to disspell the magic control rod thing.

Then they will consider themselves superior and try to convert all people into lyrium golems.

Then we'll all become just giant blue rock people. Then we will get bored. Then someone will come up with the idea of altering the physical form to shift. Then we will become Transformer Lyrium Golems. However, with the using up of all the lyrium in the world, causes a crisis with the world and its connection to the Fade, and everyone may end up dying because of the disconnect, and then the Transformer Lyrium Golems will seek out new worlds with more lyrium to eat and drain. And then we will see how to turn all things into generating magic like how blood mages use blood, so the TLGs will consume whole worlds, and then become Tyranid Transformer Lyrium Golems.

And then...

Kami (I have no idea who this is, assuming its in Naruto due to the avatar) and Mr. Blank come in and saves the day.... somehow...

The first chance ended with the Circle system. The second and so on are up to society.

I second the motion for better hats.

Edit: or fourth... whatever, I support that as well. Hoods, circlets, brimmed hats, whatever.

Finally, something we agree on. Circlets help mages wield their power more efficiently.

I say it's up to mages, they build their own future now that they broke free.

I'd say they expended their "first chance" when they f'ed up the Tevinter Imperium. They then went on to spend their second chance, when they went on to f up the world with the Darkspawn. Now they've spent their third chance by tearing down the Circle system. I'd say that the world has been awefully lenient given the past track record of mages.

Um... the first two were done by the same people and the third, aside from being totally disconnected from the first two, is completely justified.

They f'ed up nothing, it was all legit actions. Not the best consequences but legit actions.

Yes, but is it a mage centered future, or a thedosian future? They broke free, but will they remain separate from the rest of society or rejoin it? Will they share or dominate? Will they give concessions or give demands? Will they bend the knee to local lords or give them a boot to the face?

This is a big question for the mages, will they try to remain as a separate society like the Dalish or try to reintegrate themselves with the different nations and societies and take on the chains that comes with?

Everybody reintegrates sooner or latter, everybody lives in the same world, there's no where to go, and a day comes when people bump back into each other.

When that happens, I would suggest mages to try and dominate the society, since they could never be equals, and domination is more appealing than being dominated by mundanes like they were for so long.

That should be one possible ending in DA:I

They will create a society they like, that´s the beauty of it.
