Your mindset is pretty much alien to me, what with viewing the elves as the end all to existence and what have you.

I've discussed what I'd accomplish with a Dalish protagonist. I know too little about the Dwarven and Vashoth protagonist to say how I would handle the story with those racial options.

Admittedly, Andrastian human has never held any interest for me.

The Devs made that comment yes, They also said nothing of the Inquisition magically becoming a renown party with no outside backing.

I don't see anything that infers that the player will be forced to work with the Chantry, especially with the constant emphasis that the Inquisition is neutral and not beholden to the Chantry.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Inquisitor allying with them will be an option, but I see nothing to indicate that it will be mandatory or necessary.

I don't think you'll be forced to ally with the Chantry. You can choose to "lead this world to its bitter end" if you want.

Being beholden to the Chantry is a type of relationship- not being beholden to the Chantry doesn't mean a lack of relationship. You can be a part of the Chantry without being led by the Chantry and doing everything in the name of the maker. Or you could force the Chantry into a partnership with you, using its influence to support you rather than direct you. Gairder's promise is about a type of relationship, not a lack of any relationship at all.

It's pretty much the shitick of every Bioware protagonist in the last decade. You are an independent agent loosely or officially associated with group X, but are not forced to adopt their worldview or act in their name even if you share interests. Commander Shepard of the Spectres/Cerberus/Alliance, The Warden Grey Warden, Hawke the Champion of Kirkwall. None of these were characters beholden to their patron faction/identity.

Besides, what happened to that being your last words on the subject?

I was addressing your point, since you were directly speaking to me.  I did not address you again until you spoke to me again.  There is no need to be snide.  It's a bloody video game forum, after all.  ;)

Let's both just drop this and move on.

We all have our off days.  (teasing Z, teasing.)

You know there are these two words that come to mind right now.

@ Dean First off, no need to be snide.  You can keep those remarks to yourself, thanks.  <_<

Oh, and here I was just getting into the spirit of the tone. You seemed so... empassioned about it.

Look, I stated my point and disagreed with you.  I respect your views, but I don't agree with your point.

Why don't we call it there and stop insulting me, okay?  That was uncalled for.

I didn't insult you. I insulted your argument.

If you think having argument weaknesses pointed out with negative criticism about the claims is insulting... well, I'll just share that I don't feel the same way. Feel like agreeing to disagree about that?

I have not done it to you and if you think as such, I do apologize.  That wasn't my intent.

I don't think you insulted me- just made a poor argument and carried about it in a silly way.

testing making a quote box and figuring out how to end it and respond outside the quote box.

Okay, as soon as I post this I should know if it worked.

What about me? What about mE?!?!?!?!

Based on your use of punctuation marks, chaotic.  While we don't agree too often, I think your heart is in the right place, so you're chaotic good.

Sorry about the chaos. :(

What about me? :wizard:

Neutral, also known as best alignment. :D

Edit:

I assume i'd be Lawful Evil?

Lawful yeah, and the brutality pushes you from neutral to evil. :o

Claiming that you haven't read "such emotion since a Twilight rant" was pretty insulting.  Please refrain from doing that in the future as it came off as pretty rude and snide.  I was fine with you attacking my argument, even though I disagreed with you.  That's what debate is for after all.  If I couldn't handle constructive negative criticism, I wouldn't have married a 3x state champion in Speech and Debate (throughout high school and college.)

May I assume you did speech and debate at some point in school?  The way you present your arguments reminds me of that.

I don't think you insulted me- just made a poor argument and carried about it in a silly way.

Fair enough.

Truce?   :)

Why not? I enjoy the appreciation of dry, not always clever wit. Ooh, and self depreciation- that's something I take pride in from time to time.

Wait, that was what you felt insulted about?

No caveats- free apology for that. I just meant it about the relative amount of emotion, not to imply you were comparable in quality to Twilight.

Your prose is much better.

Nope, worse. Math club.

Continuing my previous post, I suspect there will be levels of success based on the number of allies you make.

Threshold A: Best Ending. You awesome Inquisitor, you.
Threshold B: Eh, you didn't fail.
Threshold C: Some people didn't die...
Threshold D: Burn, baby, burn! Disco Inferno!

So you won't have to ally with everyone, but you'll probably won't have a lot of wiggle room to leave anyone out if you want the 'best' ending.

If that meant I could bypass the Orlesian civil war...

Anyway, I get the feeling we might have some choices between (at least) two factions, like choosing between the First Warden and the King of the Anderfels, or perhaps Sebastian and the Starkhaven coup that wiped out his immediate family.

To be honest, I think we might be pushing it with the Anderfels. We have so many factions running around already that adding more like those in the Anderfels might be a tad much. Granted, I wouldn't be surprised if the First Warden is part of whatever the hell is up with the Wardens. He's even more suspect in my eyes because he's been diggin around the Primeval Thaig where we found the red lyrium.

Are the Anderfels even in the game? I thought are range was going to be generally the south-west of Thedas: Neverra, Orlais, Western Ferelden to the Frostback Mountains.

Pretty much the western Waking Sea.

Pretty much that was all that was confirmed.

The Anderfels has yet to be confirmed.

Yeah, I've heard nothing about the Anderfels one way or the other.  I know Tevinter is a place we aren't going to in this game.

I had heard we're going to parts the Free Marches as well, though Kirkwall isn't going to be on the list.  At least I'm pretty sure of that last part.  May have to dig up a source for that.

Indeed. I think the Anderfels is gonna be way too much, although that doesn't mean we won't encounter the First Warden.

May I ask, if we don't go to the Anderfels, why you think the PC will meet the First Warden in this game?  I can picture some reasons myself, but I'd like to hear your take on it.

He rarely ranges beyond his Keep but if ever a situation that arose that would rouse him beyond a blight, this would be it.

They cannot combat Darkspawn if the world ends after all.

Perhaps you're right. I'm just speculating, mostly because of the Warden conspiracy that was eluded to in Dragon Age II and the comments about Sebastian's story not being over. I suppose they might save it for a future Dragon Age game.

I think he might have a presence only if some head way is made into the Grey Warden conspiracy stuff that we heard about from Nathaniel, since the Grey Wardens were digging around the Primeval Thaig where we found red lyrium. Granted, like Z said, the world is ending, so we might have to get some Grey Warden help from the First Warden.
