There is no "his version". Mages are either free or are not. He gains nothing from freeing them. Absolutely nothing in comparison to demon example.

Templars see what they are doing as justice.

Vengeance sees what he is doing is justice.

These are different versions of justice. They have theirs and he has his.

A correction is in order then:All demons that actually have the power and capability want to rule and dominate. They are smart enough to not commit anything that will cause certain death for them hence we have lazy demons or ignorant demons.

The desire demon in the Circle tower wasn't interested in ruling and dominate either. And while there are various degree of power, a desire demon is strong enough to be able to do so.
Unless you think that the only demons capable/powerful are the uber powerful one.

And yet we had another sloth demon that tried to kill everyone in the Fade later, and did kill Niall.

Indeed. The point is that demons don't act based on a general standard.

So what we have a two sloth demons with completely different personalities.

Sort of like individuals, rather than simply broad-strokes of generality.

Like Sten said, people aren't simple, you can't just categorize them simply such as 'the elves are a live, pointy eared people who excel at poverty.' Neither, can demons be simply categorized either.

I agree, I don't view fade entities as one dimensional, they are just like any other living being.

That still doesn't counter Vengeance being a demon, seeing how it's the negative trait of what Justice is no matter how grey

No where its stated all negative traits means demons. also there are sensitive traits such as Vengeance and Duty etc... which are quite grey and sensitive and complicated. Not as black as pride.

Sometimes vengeance is quite justified especially in a medieval world such as Thedas. The act of vengeance can free people or prevent further death etc... Grey

It can be your duty to protect the innocents. It can also be your duty to kill to satisfy the blood god. Grey

Being proud is bad?

As long as they leave mortals alone, I'll be fine with this.

Pride can also be argued as being grey. For example, parents are proud of their child becoming an honor student. Does that make them sinners?

A desire demon focused on lust will be less powerful. The more complex the demon's demesne, the more psychic "territory" it possesses in the Fade and thus the more powerful it becomes. -Gaider

She wasn't focused on lust. She desired a family.

Its the failure of English language to be honest. There is a huge difference between "being proud" and having pride or better to say Hubris. This failure was so clear when bible was translated from Latin to English.

Which by that standard makes the demon even weaker.

Less powerful doesn't mean weak. And it wasn't focused on lust, but on the templar's desire for a family.
Again, unless your idea of powerful demons include only the uber powerful ones (which aren't the majority) there are powerful demons not interested in ruling and dominating.

I disagree on this.
This theory lead me to speculate of an hypothetical darkspawn abomination in the future. I wonder if they'll ever create something like this.

I'd argue that the taint sped up the corruption instead

By what standard?
And it'd make it weaker than other demons, but still powerful.

Pride can lead people to do questionable things

The same as desire, anger, hungry, vengeance

Yeah, the world is wrong. Not you. So I guess when God takes pride in Christ, that means God became an evil being. Good to know.

Heard it here first: Desiring a family makes you weak according to Lulu.

So people are actually arguing now that some demons don't seek to dominate???

Ok, I gotta go to work.

Depending on your definition of powerful. Furthermore, all the demons we've encountered interested in ruling are on the uber powerful category.
We didn't know what Audacity wanted though, as far as I recall.

Leave the demons alone!

Spirits, demons, whatever Andrastian term you want to use to refer to the denizens of the Beyond (the Fade), they are all dangerous. Like Merrill says (in the abridged version), "There's no such thing as a good spirit. There never was. All spirits are dangerous."

Lol you are an artist! in twisting words.

When did I say wanting a family makes you weak? You do realize the conversation is about demons right? A demon that wants to have a family is weak and pathetic more so in its brethren's eyes. The demons have quite a rivalry between each other too. Based on what the desire demon wants its weak or strong. Based on what Gaider told us Rage demons can become very powerful if they chose to change their trait to something anger related.

Makes me think of Batman Begins:

Bruce: "My parents deserve justice."

Rachael: "What you're talking about isn't justice. You're talking about revenge."

Bruce: "Well, sometimes they're the same."

Rachael: "No, they're never the same, Bruce. Justice is about harmony. Revenge is about you making yourself feel better."
