Oh thank you Eluvianx.  That was driving me nuts.  My guess is that Orana's story happened after Meredith's arrival to Kirkwall, but before she became Knight-Commander.

Edit: Found something interesting.  I'm not sure how cannon Dragon Age Legends is going to be, but someone was born Tranquil.  The one source on it isn't working, so bare that in mind.

Even if it isn't true, it makes for some interesting food for thought.

Perhaps, perhaps not. I guess we'll never know...damn you, Bioware lol

No, I'm actually not but thank you for putting words in my mouth. I'm talking about one specific case and more thank likely maybe two or three adults, and I wasn't even considering a Templar involved, but why bother explaining when you seem to know the underlying reason and truth of all my words. Lmao try again.

And when I am talking about the Chantry as a whole, I'm saying I don't see them willing to work with the Black Chantry considering we've had proof that they're not the best of friends.

We had proof of an Enchanter being sent in Tevinter for months with an apprentice, without supervision from White templars. We have proof that Wynne went in Tevinter, and considering that she was still considered a Circle mage her quest was approved. We know that in Connor's epilogue he went to Tevinter to further his studies, and the slide didn't imply he escaped.
Now, Kirkwall might be different due to its particular situation, but we can't say for sure.

I think you need to chill Hanako.

I am perfectly calm.

You keep inferring that the First Enchanter in this story didn't even offer alternatives but simply said okay and Tranquilized her without even trying anything else when we have no evidence of that.

Even though it is entirely possible that they just made the girl Tranquil and did not look for alternatives.

That's why I took a cue from Ares.  Despite our personal feelings towards the Chantry, we can't assume that they didn't help her.  We can be cynical and doubtful 'til the cows come home, but nothing is certain.  What we do know is that an 11 year old girl asked to be made Tranquil and that nothing states one way or the other if someone talked her out of it.

Along with 2 other people, yeah I was assuming that. I never said it was fact. I never said there was evidence, but here you are again telling me what I mean and what comes out of my mouth. What a trend this is tonight.

Of course. I just don't think that the FE would be so willing to approve it, and some templars too. Both ways are completely possible with the info we had.

We can be allowed to speculate and theorize it, though, I don't see the problem with that. It's not like we're saying "this definitely happened", I'm open to different outcomes and possibly learning other things that had happened. I was simply stating what I why dubious which was because of Feynriel and the history between the two chantries.

It was a misunderstanding on my part. I thought you were speaking in facts. I apologize.

It's alright. That can happen when only reading/typing instead of verbally speaking, I understand.

Div, I agreed with you.  You know that.    :)

I wasn't trying to give you a hard time, I promise.

It isn't certain, I can agree with that.

Given the history between the Chantry and Mages, I have no reason to favor them in this little predicament.

Yea, and I don't see why they wouldn't try to talk her out of it or offer some alternatives but ultimately it's up to her

Apparently it's "Misunderstanding Saturday," so I'll say this in advance: If I misread anyone's tone in their posts,  I apologize now.  Just let me know if I misunderstood.  I come in peace, I promise.  :D

See, that's my main issue with that whole set of circumstances.  She was a child even by Thedas' standards.  The decision should not have been up to her, at least until she was a little bit older.  It's amazing the difference in maturity is from 11-13.  Just two years.  I honestly don't think she was old enough to completely understand how permanent the process was.

This isn't directed at anyone, it's more of a general statement.  Mages: Not allowed to have many personal freedoms at all.  Yet an 11 year old girl is however adult enough to decide to strip away all emotion and dreams for good.  It blows my mind.

But you have to think: What other choice did they have? They couldn't just let her suffer the torment she was going through for two years and just tell her "We'll talk about it when you're older.".

Why would they want to stop the little mage from surrending even more of her freedom?

"Another Circle will do you some good.  I know where to assign you."

"There are teachers that have gone through this and worse, child.  I will assign one of them to help you."

"Some of mages that just passed their Harrowing might have some tips for you.  No, you cannot ask them what the Harrowing is, but they've had experience dealing with the nightmares of the Fade."

There were choices.
