I'm sure we'll play a major role in the conflict, for whatever side you wish.

But I don't think we'll pick the winners at all. To be honest I don't really expect the conflict to be fully resolved at the end of Inquisition. Like it might be a running plot point, would seem more fitting imo. However, i would be very hard to write I think.

And I like that title. Though it's lacking a certain... gorilla-esque nature in it.

You are the Banana Commander of the MDF.

Now I charge you to give me a title.

How about?

Grand Holy Knight of The Order Merrill my official Lore Chronicler and Reciter, the Redeemer and the Betrayer. The one and the only, Lord Kong of the Bioware Social Network.

As far as story/impact I am fairly certain the conclusion will be moderate. You can't plan future games with stories as divergent as no templars or circle exist with Templars and circle have absolute total victory.

Also, when considering there is apparently a set of templars loyal to the Divine along with the red templars, we can possibly infer two sets of fractured mages possibly?

Than there are the reports of all this possibly going down at a peace conference which decimates Chantry/mage/templar leadership. That would serve to cut out some of the old growth hard line leadership in the groups. Of course it could also decimate the moderate leadership in the groups that was interested in peace. It will be interesting how the plot works out.

I prefer Hierophant's Lord Kong one. It commands respect. Also, it makes me related to Donkey Kong.

As for the two of you:

The Hierophant, Paragon of Wisdom and Blade of Righteousness, Member of the Shield Legion of Kingdoms, Reaper of Truth. Behold, the Gigas!

Xilizhra, High Archmage, Azure Saint of the Mountains, the Whisperer of Secrets.

Meh, best I could come up with.

The rebels and Tevinter, likely.

Xilizhra, High Archmage, Azure Saint of the Mountains, the Whisperer of Secrets.

Hmmm... I could work with that.

This has been an interesting read. It seems like no matter where one stands on the Robes vs Skirts debate, we mostly agree that more even representation of both sides is needed.

For once, we can all agree on something.

That is possible, I hadn't considered Tevinter.

I was thinking the rebels fractured into a more moderate group and a more extremist group.  If templars can get hopped up on red lyrium why can't the mages?  I can see it as being a group of extreme blood mages or such.  Or I could see Rhys and Adriannes groups splitting over ideology.

If the mage rebellion splinters it loses the one thing that even gave it a chance against the Order in a war.

All for the better then if it does actually occur.

It means the conflict can be resolved within a game or two rather then it being ongoing element for the next six.

I would be rather sad if my role within the Qun turned out to be "to be a cheese"...:(

Better then their possibly current Arishok.

Dude loses his sword, Gets beaten down by Genlocks and then gets locked in a cage after murdering non combative inhabitants of the land the Qunari exist oh so teneously at peace with.

And then as a universial joke if he survives, the former Arishok dies and Sten recovers said blade he gets placed in command of the military of his society.

._. How a field captain did a jump to supreme commander i wouldn't have a clue but that said being a cheese is likely better then being an inexpreinced supreme commander, heads tend to roll when losses are inflicted in Feudalistic times.

For example did you know William the Conqueror, Victor of Hastings, Burner of London, Etc went through SIX of them during his invasion of the England proper?

One Orlesian announcer died from dehydration due to the length of one noble's title. TEWR you are gonna have to do better than currently!

I had another idea for a title:

Her Excellency, Regent for Life, Grand Enchanter Pilgrim Keeper Lilith Xilizhra, Mistress of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the Orlesian Empire in Thedas in General and the Dales in Particular.

Is it wrong to think that this may have actually happened on a particularly hot day in that fruity country?

Jedi Master of Orion wrote...

I'm perfectly fine with Red Templars being crazy or evil templar goons we always fight. As long as they aren't the only major templar faction in the game. And since they are called Red Templars at all, I think that's likely. I expected crazed zealots to come from both mages and templars in the game anyway.

Yes. BioWare loves it's color coding...treating us like children.

Red = bad
Blue = good.

In every BioWare game.

Jedi Master of Orion wrote...
Even Anders for all his prattle about the plight of mages and all the
times he seemed like he had a one track mind, had extra layers to him.
His hatred of blood mages and demons gave him extra dimension when the
templar/mage conflict ever arose. That and the fact that he found
himself riddled with doubt at various points in the story and at one
point even considers a peaceful solution with the Grand Cleric.

Meredith
does not have the same portrayal. All the times we get hints about her
having more depth than just "RAR! MAGES DANGEROUS! CRUSH ENEMIES!" it's
either entirely offscreen (rejecting the Tranquil solution) or you only
find out about it certain circumstances (hearing about her backstory) or
immediately undermined by her mad paranoia (Like when she sends you to
investigate whether Orsino was involved with blood magic).

Look a bit closer.
There is a bit more to Meredith (but not that much and it's well hidden).
At the start she's not that bad. Harsh, but perfectly sane.
At the end, she still feels sympathy for the mages. Evident in the conversation between her, Orsino and Hawke before Anders blows up the chantry.

Xil wrote...
It's actually because a divergence that huge between possible outcomes
would make the entire conflict relatively insignificant by necessity.
Sort of like how the OGB can't live up to its foreshadowed potential as a
plot point because the universe has to be basically the same whether it
exists or not. As such, the only possible way the templar victory could
be properly explored is if it was the only outcome, and of course I will never support that possibility.

Only if they plan to stick with the imports.
Frak the imports already. The system is more trouble than it's worth.
