I have to say I was hooked instantly after watching the OPENING CREDITS. Never seen anything like it before and I have to say I'm glad True Detective is continuing the HBO tradition of having kick-ass intros [look Game of Thrones, True Blood and so on].

It's mystery cop drama with some big names attached - which is something that we see rather often, but this time I think it's more about the cops themselves, than about the case. Then of course you have the jumping timeline - from present to the past, which perhaps makes the tension smaller, but adds some new elements to the drama.

I have to mention the acting which is just phenomenal across the board - Matthew McConaughey is mesmerizing as Rustin Cohle. Woody Harrelson is good too, when you get used to his accent, but his role is... easier, he is basically the straight man. As it is always in the case of partner cop dramas it's great watching them interact and clash with each other.

And that Southern Louisiana setting combined with the great cinematography ? It looks like some third world country sometimes and they really are not interested in showing us the better parts of it - which is something I like.

If you're curious about my opinion on each of the episodes so far - watch my reviews of them: [#1] [#2] [#3]

What are your impressions ? Are you watching ? What did you think of the last episode ?
