Since I've never bought on GOG I was hoping that someone would be able to clarify things a bit for me.

I am wanting to buy and install a game from them on another computer which does not yet have windows live mail installed (I think!) However it does have the web.

1) Is it possible to use the mail I have on another computer to register and buy?

2) Can I download the program to one computer, copy it to another computer and install it there?

3) All the prices are in $. Can I buy it using a £ card?

4) Some programs have different versions for USA and UK. Will that be a problem?

Hi, you get a GOG online account (so userid and password of your choice). Log into that and you can download / re-download.

I only installed to 1 pc but appear to have taken a copy of the downloads to my network drive (due to their size and my need for BG outweighing the risk of losing internet connectivity). I expect you could install multiple times from these.

My credit card purchase converted $ to £ and added a handling fee of about 40p from memory.

The games both appear to be pre-patched & English (either US or UK I guess, but it doesn't seem to make much difference).

& I keep getting loads of emails about offers. Here is one of the current ones that may appeal to you.

Hope that helps.

Oops, I just bought all those. Another reason to try and find a way to purchase a computer with enough disk space to install them all at the same time (plus the disk NWN2 installer rudely tells me I need a better computer so haven't played that despite owning it since it came out - might have to do a Grond0 and only try it no-reload when the time comes).

You can use the setup files multiple times, but you can also re-download from your GOG account without any problem anyway.

Thanks for the help. Very useful. I won't be buying Neverwinter Nights as I already have it and didn't enjoy it anyway. I like the idea of Icewind Dale Complete as it includes HoW plus the Loremaster patch. I bought it, but on my travels the HoW disc went awol. Can you recommend any others on that list?

Planescape Torment has a rich story, can be done via combat or dialogue but there will be a ton of dialogue either way. It is another Infinity Engine (BG) game and the rotary dial is a bit of a pain but I enjoyed the game and replayed it numerous times. Widescreen mod works with it otherwise it is 640x480. There are 7ish NPC's of which you can choose 5 at any one time, and speaking to them can unlock extra abilities for them.

Icewind Dale II complete uses 3rd edition rules on the Infinity Engine. Again, enjoyable. Like Icewind Dale there is a story but linear gameplay and geared for hack/slash. A swirf monk protagonist can be very hard to stop, particularly if accompanied by a drow sorcerer, duergar fighter type and so on. Has enough resolution options for widescreen mod to be optional and from memory the music is exceptional.

I found Hordes of the Underdark to be the best NWN part, followed by Shadows of Undrentide. The first part I didn't like. Multiplayered it with my son, fine on Windows 98 network but tried with Grond0 and terrible on Vista laptop over the net - seems setup for PVP rather than the campaigns.

Never heard of Dragonshard or Demonstone. Temple of Elemental Evil I've heard of but never played.

I have now bought the trilogy on GOG.
Whilst BG1 installed correctly, BG2 only fills a fraction of the screen.
I went to graphics options and full screen was the selection, but it is nothing like full screen. More like half screen. Can anyone tell me how to make it larger?

Strange that BG1 would stretch to your whole screen, while BG2 wouldn't. Anyway, both games have widescreen mods that should allow you to force them to run at your monitor's native resolution, thus filling the whole screen.

See this sticky thread on the GOG BG forums, look for the instructions regarding the widescreen mod.

If that doesn't fix it, we're probably gonna need more details regarding the issue.

Hi Wise… long time m8,

The last 3 of Wizardry are on gog… I recommend starting with 8 and you can restart if you decide that you need more of a challenge.

I’m currently playing Eador – (Master of the Broken World | Eador: Genesis) this is a cross between chess and masters of the universe… Genesis is the old version which is less stress for an computer to render but MotBW has pretty graphics.

Warning: these two games are old school kick your backside without giving apologies for it type games.

Some of the reason that I haven't been on the boards can be seen on my icon. I was there! Am now able to make very good Icewind Dale Portraits. That is me in front of Nilgiri.

It wasn't ghastly at all. It was fun. Only climbed to Machchapuchare base camp, not Annapurna Base Camp this time partly because of age, but mainly because I wanted my wife to enjoy it too, and she was beginning to struggle. Still climbed to over 5000m, which for two 65 year old pensioners isn't too bad.

Views of Nilgiri was from the road to Jomosom from Pokhara. Now THAT was an adventure! In Europe it would have been classified as a track! The 4-wheel-drive we were in died upon getting back to Pokhara due to dust in the engine! Just as well it lasted until we got back! There are no garages up there and parts had to be brought from Kathmandu!

I just hope that we can return some day. I love the place and the people.
